Current World Ranking Lists / Aktuelle Weltranglisten:

• The GYMmedia agency Berlin introduced the WORLD RANKING LIST, starting with the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games and since 31August 1997 (before the Lausanne WCh  Championships and the RSG World Championships of Berlin, 1997).

• This List is applicable uniformly according to analogous scoring principles for all gymnastics disciplines (GYMmedia World Ranking Key).
  (For trampoline and aerobics under construction) According to the reversed nation point principle there are the following maximums e.g.:
  100 points
  for Olympic all around victory
                                                            
  80 Points
  for the All around World Champion as well as further staggered points for the apparatus sequence (1s^t to 8^th place) and team membership in large events (Olymp. Games place 1 to 12; World Champ. place 1 – 18; Continental  Championships rank 1 to 6) of the world gymnastics in the following categories:

• Category I: Olympic Games

• Category II: World Championships

• Category III: Continental Championships
  (points will count only complete in the case of geographical balance - 4 continental championships - otherwise the points were count proportional (this rule will be applied from the year 2000 on))

• Category IV: World Cups

• Category V:  All-around tournements
  (max. 6 per year,  later registered ‘World Ranking List Tournaments’, official defined of FIG)

• Category VI: Grand Prix/Great Four’

• Category: VII: National all-around champion
  (if the results of the national championships are sent to GYMmedia by the National Gymnastics Federations)

• Category VIII: One  highest ranking junior competition per year. (?)
  
  Through multiple computer simulations of the world gymnastics structures and the entire Olympic cycle in the individual gymnastics disciplines, GYMmedia has developed a scoring mechanism (WORLD RANKING KEY),
  which meets the requirements of the GYM-WORLD RANKING LISTS.

• DYNAMISATION
  At the end of each calendar year, all values are reduced by 25% respectively for making these World Ranking Lists more ‘dynamic’. This effectively leads to more movement in the rankings and thus to a better possibility of interpretation.

• PARKPOSITION
  Athletes who end their career in a given calendar year or do not take part in a WRL relevant event, remain in the WRL until the end of the following year and are transferred to a special ‘parking position’ after that. Gymnasts who get none points in two calendar years will also move to the ‘parking position’.

(Should they continue their career, they can be reactivated with their points.)

GYMmedia - WELTRANGLISTEN

• Die Agentur GYMmedia Berlin führt seit 31-08-97 (vor den WM in Lausanne, bzw. den RSG- WM in Berlin 1997) - die GYMmedia- WELTRANGLISTEN, deren Wertung mit den Olympischen Spielen Atlanta '96 begann.

• Diese ist nach einem analogen Punkteschlüssel  ("GYMmedia-World Ranking Key") einheitlich auf alle Gymnastics- Disziplinen anwendbar.
  (Trampolin und Aerobic in Vorbereitung).
  Nach dem umgekehrten Nationenpunktprinzip gibt es z.B. als Maxima:
  100 Punkte
  für den Mehrkampf-Olympiasieg
                                                   
  80 Punkte
  für den Mehrkampf-Weltmeistertitel
  sowie Punkte für Finalplazierungen  (1-8 Platz) und Teamzugehörigkeit bei Großereignissen
  (Olymp. Spiele Platz 1-12; WM Platz 1-18;
  Kontinental-Meisterschaften: Platz 1-6) des Weltturnsports in folgenden Kategorien:

• Kategorie I: Olympische Spiele

• Kategorie II: Weltmeisterschaften

• Kategorie III: Kontinentale Meisterschaften
  (Punkte sind nur vollwertig bei geographischer Ausgewogenheit - 4 kontinentale Meisterschaften - ansonsten werden die Punkte nur anteilig gewertet (dieses Regel wird seit dem Jahr 2000 angewandt)

• Kategorie IV:   Weltcups

• Kategorie V: Internationale Mehrkampfturniere (max.6; bei Akzeptanz durch Weltverband von der FIG ausgewiesene "Weltranglistenturniere")

• Kategorie VI: Grand Prix/Great Four

• Kategorie VII: Nationaler Mehrkampfmeister (in)
  (- wenn von den Nationalen Verbänden die Resultate der Landesmeisterschaften zu GYMmedia gesandt werden)

• Kategorie VIII: ein (der) ranghöchster Juniorenwettbewerb pro Jahr (?)
  
  Durch vielfache Computersimulationen der Strukturen des Weltturnsports eines ganzen Olympiazykluses in den einzelnen Disziplinen hat GYMmedia dafür einen Punktecode entwickelt, (WORLD RANKING KEY-System GYMmedia ) der den Anforderungen der WELTRANGLISTEN optimal gerecht wird.

• DYNAMISIERUNG
  Jeweils am Ende eines jeden Kalenderjahres werden alle Werte um 25% reduziert.
  Dies führt zu effektiv mehr Bewegung der Rangfolgen und deshalb zu besseren Möglichkeiten der medialen Interpretation.

• PARKPOSITION
  Athleten, die ihre Laufbahn in einem Kalenderjahr beenden und im Folgejahr an keinem WRL - relevante Ereignis mehr teilnehmen, verbleiben noch bis zum Ende des Folgejahres in der WRL und werden anschließend in eine gesonderte "Parkposition" überführt. Sportler, die zwei Kalenderjahre keine WRL-Punkte sammelten werden ebenfalls in die "Parkposition" überführt.
