Brett McClure

Brett McClure a
member of the U.S. men's team and silver medallist of the 2001
World Championships, won the all-around title at the 2003
Winter Cup, held Friday night in Las Vegas.
McClure topped Jason Gatson
(USOTC) and David Durante of Stanford.
The Winter Cup serves as a men's qualifier to the 2003 U.S.
national championships. |

Brett McClure Adds
Two Golds to his All-Around Victory on Friday
- Brett McClure,
Chevron-USOTC, won gold medals on pommel horse (tied) and high bar, plus
a silver on parallel bars to complete a very successful weekend in Las
Vegas at the Men's Winter Cup Challenge. Other event winners tonight
were: Guillermo Alvarez, Minnesota, Floor Exercise; Josh
Landis, Oklahoma, Pommel Horse (tied with McClure); Kevin Tan,
Penn State, Rings; Michael Reavis, Iowa, Vault; and Jason
Gatson, USOTC-Chevron, Parallel Bars.
In addition, David Durante,
Stanford, has been named to the U.S. Men's National Team by the Men's
Program Committee. He joins Bhavsar, Gatson, and McCain as the four new
team members named this weekend (see headline below).
Men's National Team and Visa American
Cup announcements
- Brett McClure has been selected to compete in the Visa American
Cup on March 1st in Fairfax, VA. He will join Paul Hamm, Sean
Townsend, and Blaine Wilson as the male gymnasts representing
the United States in this international competition.
Raj Bhavsar, Jason Gatson,
and Steve McCain have been added to the U.S. Men's National team
by the Men's Program Committee meeting held earlier Saturday morning. They
will remain on the national team until the U.S. Championships in
Milwaukee in June.

The 2001 British Champion David
Eaton from Hinckley, who is currently studying in California,
took the top 12th place at one of the most prestigious
Gymnastics events in the USA, the Winter Cup, held over the weekend in
Las Vegas. "Your boy did an
exceptional job in Las Vegas!" said Bob
Colarossi, President of the USA Gymnastics and member of the
FIG Executive.
In the year of the World Championships in Anaheim in August, which will
also serve as 2004 Olympic Qualifications, the achievement of David
Eaton is more than encouraging.
David scored 50.625 points in the overall and placed 6th on his best
apparatus, the High Bar.
