In February 1999 Mr. Ernest John Rohr from South Holland, Chicago/Illinois (USA) found the Internetservice of GYMmedia 'GYMworld - The World of Gymnastics' and he saw the web site of his Great-; Great-; Grandfather, Friedrich Ludwig Jahn.
He mailed to GYMmedia Berlin - and a half year later he got an invitation from the European GYM online Agency, to visit the historical places of his famous ancestor. The fFirst stop was the historical 'Hasenheide' (Jahn monument) and the Olympic Center of Berlin...

Im Februar 1999 fand Ernest John Rohr aus South Holland , Chicago/Illinois (USA) die Website von GYMmedia 'GYMworld - The World of Gymnastics'
und auch die Seiten über den Turnvater Friedrich Ludwig Jahn zu dessen 220.Geburtstag, schickte eine E-Mail und ....
ein halbes Jahr später besucht er auf Einladung der Europäischen GYM Online Agentur die historischen Plätze seines weltberühmten Vorfahren. Erste Station seiner Reise war Berlin, die historische "Hasenheide" und der Olympiastützpunkt der deutschen Hauptstadt...

BERLIN's 'HASENHEIDE'
First time in Europe - and very touched, the grandson looked up to the Jahn monument in Berlin's Hasenheide', where the first gymnastic place was established in 1811.

Zum ersten Mal in seinem Leben in Europa - und da stand der Nachkomme des Turnvaters sehr ergriffen und in Andacht vor dem Denkmal seines großen Vorfahren, der hier, in der Berliner Hasenheide 1811 den ersten Turnplatz in der Geschichte eröffnete.

At the end of the Berlin's trip:
A visit in the Olympic Center of the German capital:
There Ernest John Rohr met the Olympic Gold medalist on high bar, Atlanta 1996, Andreas Wecker. The 29 year old athlete is just on his way, to take part on his 4th Olympic Games in 2000, Sydney - as the first German gymnast in history.

OLYMPIASTÜTZPUNKT BERLIN
Zum Abschluss des Berlinaufenthaltes
besuchte Ernest John Rohr den Berliner Olympiastützpunkt und traf mit Andreas Wecker zusammen, den Reck-Olympiasieger vom Georgia Dome 1996, in Atlanta.
Wecker ist auf bestem Wege als erster deutscher Turner an seinen 4. Olympischen Spielen 2000 in Sydney teilzunehmen.
