'The Freyburg Period'  (1825 - 1852)

June 1825 after the release from prison, Jahn moved to Freyburg/Unstrut (Saxony-Anhalt of today) under police
Sept. 1828 temporary banned to Kölleda in Thuringia due to alleged contacts with students and teachers of secondary schools in the area
25/8/1848 Jahn as MP for the governmental district of Merseburg held a speech in the Frankfurt National Assembly and was inconsistent with the revolutionary gymnasts, and for ‘Law and Order’
15/10/1852 Friedrich Ludwig Jahn died at the age of 74 in Freyburg an der Unstrut.

The 'FRIEDRICH-LUDWIG-JAHN SOCIETY OF SPONORS' has set itself the task of maintaining the heritage of the father of gymnastics.

Attention focuses very much on preserving the Jahn monuments

  • his home and now Jahn Museum
  • Jahn Honorary Hall
  • Jahn Gym

The Association issues a JAHN-REPORT informing about historical and topical problems in maintaining the tradition.
