 Groups apparatus finals - Russia wins both titles


The Russian group -
3-time European Champion


 
The last decisions at these European Championships were the apparatus finals of the groups. All-around European Champion Russia won the final with 5 ribbons as well as also the final with 3 hoops / 2 clubs.

It was a very narrow decision in the first final in which in the end Belarus won the silver medal. In the final with 3 hoops / 2 clubs the silver medal went to Italy who also presented the most interesting choreography in this final. Before that in the final with 5 ribbons they had already won the bronze medal. The 3rd place in the final with 3 hoops / 2 clubs went to Bulgaria.

 Finals of the juniors: All four titles for Russia!

All four titles in the juniors' apparatus finals with rope, hoop, clubs and ribbon went to the Russian gymnasts. The four gymnasts had already won the team event on Friday.


The four Junior European Champions 2006 are: Aleksandra Ermakova (rope), Ekaterina Donich (hoop) , Natalia Pichuzhkina (clubs) and Daria Kondakova (ribbon).

 Individual all-around: Vera Sessina is European Champion!

Olympic Champion Alina Kabaeva (69.150) today in Moscow narrowly missed the chance to win her 6th ECh- title. Instead the title went to her team mate Vera Sessina (69.400). The 20-year old gymnast from Moscow managed to present her routines without mistakes while Kabaeva had one drop of the apparatus with the rope. The 3rd place went to Vice- World Champion Anna Bessonova (67.600) from Ukraine.

Following behind them were Inna Shukova (BLR), Natalia Godunko (UKR) and Alyia Garajeva (AZE).
Participating in today's all-around were the 20 highest- ranked gymnasts of the European Championships 2004, resp. the gymnasts following on the ranks behind them. The overall sportive balance of Alina Kabaeva, who had already ended her career after the 2004 Olympics, is unique in the history of RG.

 Juniors: Russia wins the team event


The four Junior European Champions from Russia

 
Russia is the Junior European Champion in the team competition. With the total score of 98.45 the four Russian juniors dominated this competition in which took part overall 33 teams. On the 2nd place follows Belarus (93.100) and the bronze medal went to Bulgaria (91.575).

Ukraine ended up on rank 4 and quite surprisingly behind them on the 5th place can be found Romania. "This might have surprised quite a few people", said Germany's head coach Birgit Guhr. "But since many years already very good work in the training of younger gymnasts has been done im Romania. Overall the level of performance was quite high in this junior competition. This shows that many countries put a lot of effort in the training of younger gymnasts."

 Groups all-around: Russia defends their title


Russia is again
the Groups European Champion


 
Russia is again the European Champion in the groups competition. The Russian group, World- and Olympic Champion, won the event with the score of 33.400 in front of Italy (32.150) and Belarus (31.675).
Following on the ranks behind them are Bulgaria, Spain, France, Azerbaijan and Israel.
With a spectacular hoops-clubs routine Italy managed to climb up from rank 3 to the silver-medal rank while Bulgaria dropped down from the 2nd place to rank 4 with their ribbon- routine.

 Juniors' team competition: Russia is in the lead


Aleksandra Ermakova (RUS) - today on rank 1 with the rope and in the team competition

 
Russia - more than four points ahead of Belarus and Bulgaria, this is the ranking at half-time of the juniors' team competition at the European Championships in Moscow. All of the 33 junior- teams competed today with the apparatus rope and hoop.

Quite a surprise is the current 4th- rank of Romania, even in front of Ukraine and Italy.

The second and final part of the team competition of the juniors will follow tomorrow. Today evening (6.00 - 9.15 p.m. local Moscow time) still takes place the senior groups all-around competition.

 Thursday: 2nd day of podium training before the competitions will start tomorrow




 
Tomorrow will start the the 22nd European Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics. Today took place the 2nd day of the podium training and the gymnasts are already looking forward to the start of the competitions.
The gymnasts who will kick of the event tomorrow will be the juniors with their team competition. On the first competition day the routines with rope and hoop will be presented.

Before the competitions of these 22nd European Championships in Moscow will start on Friday the official podium training is currently on the schedule for the participating gymnasts.

 PREVIEW: 22nd European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships


Titel No. 6 for Kabaeva?

 
Will Kabaeva succeed in winning her 6th consecutive European title...?

At the 22nd European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships title holder and Olympic Champion 2004 Alina Kabaeva from Russia wants to win her 6th title in a row.
In addition to the individual all-around in Moscow will take place also the groups European Championships as well as the European Championships for juniors (team and event finals). 33 federations with 200 senior and junior gymnasts, among them 18 groups, will participate in the event.

The competitions will start on Friday, Sept. 21st, when in the evening already the first decision of these Championships will be made in the groups all-around.
