fig -- June 5, 2002: The constitution phase of the
FIG Foundation Council drew to a close today with the nomination
of Mrs Nadia Comaneci to Member of the Foundation.
The most celebrated of gymnasts, she is known for her warm and
exemplary personality, especially when it comes to solidarity and
to lending assistance to the most destitute. It was, then, natural
that the Foundation call upon Nadia Comaneci to support the
Foundation’s work.
The
FIG Foundation was created with the aim of offering assistance to
gymnasts suffering physically from health problems during their
sports career. The FIG has allocated a sum of 2 million Swiss
francs, the interest of which will provide the funds for aid. The
Foundation will solicit political and economic circles as well as
the FIG affiliated federation for contributions to the
Foundation’s capital.

Stiftung auf ihrer letzten Tagung in Japan zur Unterstützung
verletzter ehemaliger Athleten, ist in dessen konstituierender
Phase nun auch die weltbekannte Ex-Turnerin Nadia Comaneci in
diese Foundation als Mitglied aufgenommen worden. Comaneci dazu:
"Ich beglückwünsche die FIG zu diesem Schritt der Bildung
einer solchen Stiftung!"
TDiese
Foundation wurde gebildet zur Hilfe und
Unterstützung von Athleten, die im Verlaufe ihrer sportlichen
Karriere gesundheitliche Schäden erlitten haben. Die FIG hat eine
Summe von 2 Millionen Schweizer Franken für diesen Hilfsfonds zur
Verfügung gestellt.
Künftig will der Weltverband politische und ökonomische Kreise
ebenso ansprechen, wie auch die Landesverbände, die ihren Beitrag
zu diesem Fond leisten sollen. |

le 5 juin 2002 : La phase de constitution du Conseil de la
Fondation FIG s’est achevée aujourd’hui par la nomination de
Madame Nadia Comaneci au titre de Membre dudit Conseil.
La plus célèbre de toutes les gymnastes du monde sait toujours réserver
un accueil chaleureux
et exemplaire, lorsqu’il s’agit de solidarité et de porter
assistance aux plus démunis. Aussi, était-il naturel que la
Fondation fisse appel à Nadia Comaneci pour soutenir les actions
que cette nouvelle instution sera appelée à conduire.
Rappelons
que la Fondation FIG a été créée dans le but de venir en aide
aux gymnastes atteint physiquement dans leur santé au cours de leur
carrière sportive. La FIG a alloué une somme de 2 millions de
francs suisses, dont les intérêts serviront à alimenter le fonds
d’aide. La Fondation sollicitera les milieux politiques, économiques
et également les fédérations affiliées à la FIG pour contribuer
au capital de la Fondation.
