Agency reported, that
Olympic gold medallist Xing Aowei has
to withdraw from the upcoming 14th Asian Games
due to his handinjury, handing his compatriot Liang
Fuliang a good chance to compete in international
events.
Xing, member of the Sydney
Olympic champion team, broke the left hand as he took part
in a province-wide gymnastic competition several days ago.
Ye
Zhennan, manager of the Chinese men's team, said
Xing's quitwill bring little influence to the Chinese team
for the upcoming Asiad since China abounded with outstanding
male gymnasts.
"We have enough choices. Xing was pity to suffer a
hand-brokeninjury, but to tell the truth, his injury did
give some young players a chance."
Liang Fuliang, gold winner from World Universiad last year,
will take Xing's place to go to Busan with other five
top-flight male gymnasts Li Xiaopeng, Yang Wei, Huang Xu,
Feng Jing and Teng Haibin.
However, it is not the final
roster for the Asiad, said Ye.
"Gymnasts suffer injuries frequently. We usually
finished the roster as we leave for competitions. So we have
to announce our final roster when we leave for Busan on
Sept. 26." said Ye.
Chinese Olympic men's champion team members Li Xiaopeng,
Huang Xu, Yang Wei and other three of their junior fellow,
are regarded hot favorites to sweep the golds at the Busan
Asian Games, slated for September 29 - October 14.

chinesische Mannschaft, denn man verfüge über eine Vielzahl
hervorragender Athleten.
So wird der "Ersatz" Liang,
Fuliang, der im Vorjahr Gewinner der
Studenten-Weltmeisterschaft war, gemeinsam mit Li
Xiaopeng, Yang Wei, Huang Xu, Weltmeister Feng
Jing und mit Teng Haibin Ende
September in Busan an den Start gehen.
"Allerdings muss das noch nicht die letzte Aufstellung sein,
die wir wohl erst kurz vor Abreise bekannt geben werden", so Ye,
Zhennan.
Das Chinesische Männerteam gilt als haushoher Favorit auf alle
Titel dieser 14. Asienspiele, die vom 29. September bis 14. Oktober
stattfinden werden.

The Chinese
Gymnastics Association reported that Ling,
Jie, the 1999 World Championships (Tianjin) gave away
her medal from highest achievement in gymnastics in order to aid
the famous school. Ling, who retired past April 2002 because of
injuries.
In 2000, Ling won the silver medal on uneven bars at the Olympic
Games in Sydney, as well as also the World Cup title on bars in
Glasgow.
The Hunan Gymnastics School is one of the most successful in
China, but is facing a serious shortage of money needed to
continue operation. In addition to Ling, the school produced
Olympic champions Li Xiaopeng, Liu
Xuan and Lu
Li, and also world medalists, like Li
Jing, Li Jiya, and Chen
Cuiting.
