Grand Prix Final: Kapranova and Sesina with each two Gold at the end

As everybody had expected, the two Russian World Champions arranged the top of the apparatus finals in today's Grand Prix-Finals, series 2007 among themselves.

Olga KAPRANOWA won the hoop final with 18.850 points and the clubs finals with 18.600 points, her compatriot Vera SESSINA achieved gold in the rope final with 18.600 points and in the ribbon final with 18.700 points.
The two top-gymnasts are therewith the Gand Prix overall winners 2007 in these disciplines and obtained the Winners Prize as well.

2007's two big girls, Olga Kapranova and Vera Sessina continued dominating the field in the Grand Prix finals in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Innsbruck. A short summary of their prosperities:

Olga Kapranova is 19 years old, student and achieved the following top-results:
- WCh 2007 in Patras: 3fold World Champion with the team, clubs and hoop;
- WCh 2005: 4fold World Champion in all around, ball, clubs, rope;
- ECh 2007 in Baku: 1st with hoop,
- ECh 2006: 1st in all around competition;
- ECh 2005: 1st with ball;
- Grand Prix 2007: 1st with hoop and clubs, 2nd with rope and ribbon.

Vera Sessina is 21 years old, student and achieved the following top results:
- WCh 2007 in Patras: 3fold World Champion with the team, with rope and ribbon,
- WCh 2005: 1st with ribbon,
- ECh 2007 in Baku: 1st with clubs,
- Grand Prix 2007: 1st with rope and ribbon, 2nd with clubs and hoop.

Kapranova (RUS) gewinnt Mehrkampf bei Grandprix-Final-Qualifikation

The duel between te two Russian World Champions in the all around competition of the Grand Prix finals had been expected, but was exceedingly thrilling. The all two times world champion of Patras Olga KAPRANOVA curtly gained the lead with 74.433 points in front of her compatriot Vera SESINA (74,283). And it was continue at the Sunday's finals: Kapranova and Sesina won each two apparatuses at the end.

Azerbaijanian European Champion Aliya GARAYEVA (71.917) came in thirs, followed by Irina Risenzon (ISR), Liubv Charkashina (BLR), Anna Gurbanova (AZE) and, seventh already, the Austrian National Master Caroline WEBER (66.833).

Caro Weber (AUT): a strong season!

Austrian number one Caroline Weber did a pretty good job: The 21-year-old came in seventh in an international top-level field and confidently qualified for all the four appararatus finals on Sunday. The gymnasts are not only struggling to find out the overall winner with rope, hoop, ribbon and clubs: There is a prize money of 10.000 EUR.
Additionally, there is a special prize, the „Winners Price“ (14.000 EUR in total) for the three best with each apparatus, who participated in all the ten Grand Prix tournaments.

Caro Weber from Austria continued her top performances of this season with her performances in the Grand Prix finals.
In the European and World Championships, she ranked fourteen in the all around competition, but now hold a national ticket for the Olympic Games in Beijing: "Seventh in the all around competition is okay. I reached my goal, the best eight. I did not even dare to hope for the fifth rank with ribbon. Now I am looking forward to the single competitions." says Weber in a first reaction.

For Selina Pöstinger (12th) from Upper Austria and Katharina Reitgruber (14th) from Lower Austria, this was the first confrontation with the world's top gymnasts.

Sunday: The finals
Sunday will start with the juniors' decision at 1.30 pm.

In the Grand PRIX finals from 3.45 pm on, Vera Sesina (rope, ribbon) and Olga Kapranova (clubs, hoop) are participating as number ones, as had been expected. Before, the Big Gymnastics Gala in the hall "Tyrol" of the Congress Innsbruck (8.00 pm) promises elegance, beauty and the uncomparable experience of the "Lightness of being" . The gala is an "appetizer" so to say, for the sportive top-performances in the finals on Sunday...
