RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS

German

Compared to yesterday's finals in artistic gymnastics the venue was not totally sold-out today. - However, nonetheless about 3500 spectators were there! - Most of the World's best rhythmic gymnasts started in their World Cup Final 2002, except for the European Champion Alina Kabaeva who hadn't qualified for it and Yelena Tkatchenko (BLR) who is still injured. This final stands for a not that successful series - at least regarding the participation of organisers. For the qualification to this final the following tournaments counted:
Berlin World Cup 2001, international tournament Corbeil 2001 and 2002, the World Championships 2001 in Madrid and the international tournament of Moscow 2002. Like in artistic gymnastic, the scores start at zero for this World Cup final. A German gymnast hadn't qualified.
However, in Stuttgart two promising German junior gymnasts from the club TSV Schmiden presented their routines, Lisa Inguildeeva and Eugenia Ramich.

The best today -  Anna und Simona

Die beiden Stars des Tages Anna Bessonova (links) und Simona Peycheva (Mitte) bei der Siegerehrung Ball mit Tamara Yerofeeva

Although it had not really been expected, it was Anna Bessonova's (UKR) day today. She won three of the four finals and presented herself very well. The 2nd best gymnast of the day was Simona Peycheva (BUL) who won the final with the ball and reached the 2nd rank with the clubs - with the same score as Anna Bessonova. Anna:" I like the all-around but have two favourite apparatus nonetheless, rope and hoop. If I present those routines well I have always a chance to win a medal.

I also have very expressive music for them. - Today everything went well and I could be successful. Also I had the opportunity to visit the city a little bit and I will always have good memories on this DTB-Cup."

Simona:"I want to thank the organisers of this very good competition, I would like to compete in those kind of tournaments more often, with such a crowd. For me it is the first time at a World Cup final and I am fascinated by the opportunity to take part in an event together with artistic gymnastics. I was well prepared and I am happy that my routines were well liked by the audience."
