♦ Simone BILES from USA set the record by a female for career gold medals at the world gymnastics championships Sunday by winning the balance beam and floor exercise. The 18-year-old now has 10 golds in all, breaking the mark held by Svetlana Khorkina (RUS) , Gina Gogean (ROU) and Larisa Latynina (URS.
The three-time all-around champion posted a score of 15.358 on balance beam, more than a point better than silver medalist Sanne WEVERS of the Netherlands and bronze medalist Pauline SCHAEFER of Germany. The margin was nearly as big on floor exercise, where her score of 15.800 beat Russia's Ksenia AFANASIEVA by seven tenths. American teammate Maggie NICHOLS earned a bronze behind her best friend.
The two golds during the event finals gave Biles 14 total medals since she made her debut at the championships in 2013. She has won four gold medals at each of the last two world championships, more than any other country during that span.

One more for Biles

Unprecedented: A 4-way tie for gold !
It was an Uneven Bars final worth its weight in gold: For the first time in the history of the sport, four gymnasts -- China's Fan Yilin, Russians Viktoria Komova and Daria Spiridonova and American Madison Kocian -- tied for the World title. Each of the four scored 15.366, setting the SSE Hydro crowd buzzing and tripling the duration of the awards ceremony. Fan, Komova, Spiridonova and Kocian will forever be linked in the annals of Women's Gymnastics, which has never seen anything like this. (Ties for gold at Worlds have been more frequent in Men's Gymnastics, including three-way splits on Pommel Horse in 1903 and 1992, and on High Bar in 1922. Five gymnasts tied for silver on Parallel Bars in 1922.)
