Overall, the instability of the qualification - see also the unlucky Guo Weiyang in the final, nothing more. The Japanese "disaster otation" was there, where other teams give a points cushion: on jump, in their second Rotation, already: Yamamoto crashed and was injured and had to be carried out of the hall, the unrest brought into the team.
However, Kohei Uchimura increased in inspiring ways, which identified him as a true all-around favorite: outstanding on the parallel bars with a textbook exercise - 15.416, still increased by Karuhito TANAKA  with 15.500.
Than Tanaka grashed on the floor (13.733) and he also missed at the last apparatus, on pommel horse (13.433).
It was now for the medals: Giant load on the shoulders of Kohei Uchimura, who was the last gymnast on the pommel. He moved fluid and aggressive, until ... even to the finish ... when he crashed after the handstand ... so that first indicated by his score (13.466) a total score of 271.252, ... the Brits  cheered, because Japan only fourth place, the British won silver and surprise bronze for Ukraine
... but after long discussions the Technical Committees of the FIG. under the direction of the Romanian Adrian Stoica, changed this ranking on medal places ...

3. GREAT BRITAIN - 271,711 - BRONZE

They had miscalculated: A Japanese was probably a D-part has been wrongly assessed, so that you inserted successfully protest the British jubilation a little muffled, but at the and they were happy about the first bronze medal after 100 years!

The team edged out close rivals the Ukraine and Russia on their last piece, the floor, where Purvis, Thomas and Whitlock showed no sign of nerves nailing their routines.
The team initially looked to have taken the silver behind China but a last minute score change for Japan bumped them up from fourth to second ahead of GBR in third.
Regardless, it was a historic victory and the packed crowd in the North Greenwich Arena could not contain their excitement.
The team began on pommel, where they went clean helped by an almost flawless performance from Louis Smith who scored an outstanding 15.966 to start them off on a good foot.
The boys dipped below after one of their weaker pieces, the rings but they still continued with no major errors, where countries such as USA and Germany began to crumble.
Kristian Thomas then performed the vault of his life to really put GBR into the mix with parallel bars straight after, also a clean piece. Then over on the high bar, the teams medal hopes looked to be in doubt, Sam Oldham slipped and fell and the boys knew they had to produce something special on floor to edge ahead. That they certainly did, hardly putting a foot wrong and when the crowd realised they had earned a place on the podium, the North Greenwich Arena erupted.

Kristian Thomas: “I tried not to look at the scores all the way round as it was so close but couldn’t resist after high bar and then I wish I hadn’t! It didn’t matter though; the crowd were incredible and really helped us through, especially as I ended up last on floor, so there was a lot of pressure. We initially thought we had the silver but it doesn’t matter to me what colour, I’m standing here with an Olympic medal and I can’t stop looking at it.”
Louis Smith: “That was just unbelievable; I mean when Kristian smashed his vault it was amazing. The support we have had is remarkable and I think that’s the Olympic fever, it adds extra pressure and expectation but you can use that to your advantage. The crowd really get behind you and you can feel it, we were buzzing all the way round.”

4. UKRAINE - 271,526  - unexpected increase!___________________________________________
Somewhat in the shadow of the medal fight surprised the Ukrainians with a united team performance of their young, very athletic and technically well-groomed young men: offered on the rings they left the Russians (46.132), but on par with the Japanese, the second best performance (45.699) on pommel horse, and third best result on vault even before the Russian team...!

5. USA -  269,952  - ... the crash of the day istself!

Two days before  the best team in the qualification and today starting as the third best team on floor exercise floor ...  but than a lot of mistakes at the next four apparatus ...  - just stretching ran again to the satisfaction - you find yourself instead in the medal battle in a disappointing fifth rank. John OROZCO was the absolutely unlucky men this time: He crashed from the pommel horse, then he got on his power apparatus still  rings (only 14.985)  and fell still further on vault.
This mode does not forgive any mistakes!

6. RUSSIA - 269,603 -   .. noch zu jung ...?

Except to the rings (1) and at the floor (2) the potentially  team have not been up to expectations. In particular, the instability of her third gymnas (Pachomenko) he fell on jump and he also got off on the high bar ...
No medal, but after Athens and Beijing for the third time in a row Russia ranked 6th place, but they had already credited to intervene into the coin battle this year ...!

7. GERMANY - 268,019

To much mistaks, only Fabian Hambuechen and Marcel were top again - Hambüchen with 16,166 (7.5) on high bar, and Nguyen with 15,500 on parallel bars.
But London is no successfull place for the two-times vice-world champion Philipp Boy: He fell from the pommel horse but also from his top apparatus high bar after a Kolman sault ...
