1. MUSTAFINA, Aliya (RUS) = 16,133 (7.0)
... everything perfect, like a Chinese... Jäger-salto tucked. ... dismount double salto hocked with 11/2-twist - 7.0 difficulty! - now the gold decision ...!

2. HE, Kexin (CHN)  =  15,933  (7.1)
... the Olympic champion 2008 has to perform first, like her teammate CHEN, Yibing, on rings: was nominated very late for the team due to an arm injury, Jäger + 1/2-twist, direct Jäger-salto between bars... Jäger stretched + Paksalto ... dismount: Tsukahara, hocked - her experience and technical elegance gave her a high E-mark!!

3. TWEDDLE, Elisabeth (GBR)
= 15,916 (7.0)
... starts the exercise aggressively, Tkachev, 1/2 turn , Gienger-salto, Tweddle and then dismount... did 1, 2 steps backwards at the reception.... that should have costed her the gold - but bronze is very good!

4. YAO, Jinnan (CHN) = 15,766 (6.8)
... shows great handstand turns... Tkatchev. ... dismount double-salto bw., streched - brilliant reception! Everything with brilliant technique; lower D-score leaves her on fourth place.
5. KOMOVA, Victoria (RUS)   =  15,666 (7.0)
... the World champion was the second starter, she was injured long time and had to undergo surgery in Munich, then today: streched Jäger-salto, Tkachov, seems to hit the lower bar with both feet, dismount: double Tsukahara hocked, bad luck for the Russian gymnast.
6. SEITZ, Elisabeth (GER)  =  15,266  (6.7)
... Def done... Hindorff too ...Jäger . ...  shows everything she is able to do: ... Tsukahara, little hop at the reception. Good performance!

7. TSURUMI, Koko (CHN)  =  14,966  (6.4)
...  clean routine, virtuos handstand turns, technically perfect uneven bar exercise ... Double-salto bw. stretched, perfect reception, but the difficulty is not god enough!!

8. DOUGLAS, Gabrielle (USA)  =  14,000  (6.3)
...the all-around Olympic champion is last gymnast to perform:
the "flying squirrel" starts... Tkachov tucked and then, after a 11/2 handstand turn with direction change - interrumption ... at the dismount, double salto stretched with correction step - no, the last starter couldn't change anything in the placements!

** Aliya MUSTAFINA
wins the first Olympic gold for Russia again,  after the queen of uneven bars Svetlana Khorkina (1996, 2000).

... and from the perspective of the British hosts:
The line-up for the women’s bars final was one of the strongest ever seen, including 2008 Olympic Champion He (CHN) and the 2012 all-around Olympic Champion, Douglas (USA).  He (CHN) was up first, setting a high benchmark score of 15.933.
When Beth TWEDDLE (GBR) came onto the podium the arena erupted, yet she looked calm and collected. She performed an excellent routine, linking all of her difficult connections with just a step back on her dismount to score 15.916 to take the bronze.
The eventual winner was Mustafina (RUS) who put in an almost flawless performance to take the gold with 16.133.

Beth Tweddle said: --  “It’s the best feeling in the world to win the bronze medal, there was one point today I thought I’d end in 4th like in Beijing 08, so I’m really happy. This was the one medal missing from my collection; this is the one I really wanted. I tried to keep calm and do what I do best and the crowd were amazing, as soon as I walked into the arena it was incredible.
I haven’t made any future plans yet, I definitely won’t be in Rio but I’m happy to go home now, have a bit of a holiday and then get back into the gym and if my hearts in it I will continue. I had a step on my dismount but at the end of the day I had to go for the difficult dismount to challenge for a medal. To be honest I could say ‘what if’ but I’m not disappointed in the slightest, any medal, any colour is what I always said I wanted, so I’m extremely happy.”

1. DENG, Linlin (CHN) = 15,600 (6.6)
... World champion from London 2009, Vice-World champion in Rotterdam (2010) - Salto fw. tucked, long triple series with flicflac onto the beam (!) ... ring jump + salto fw. hocked...long combination and double salto tucked as dismount. This was WORLDCLASS!!

2. SUI, Lu  (CHN)  =  15,500   (6.5)
...the reigning World champion (2011)has to start the competition - like Chen Yibing, bad luck with the starting order, but she performs her difficult programme nearly without mistakes - only a little step after the dismount double-salto tucked!!  Difficult situation for the competitors to cope with this exercise

3. RAISMAN, Alexandra (USA) = 14,966 - after correction = 15.066
... 4th at the last WCh in Tokio ('11) - performs last, still the two Chinese in the lead! - Salto fw. hocked, secure... double combination, very self-confident ... little insecurity after salto fw tucked ... salto bw. tucked, handspring fw 1/2 ...... then dismount: double twist hocked, wide hop after dismount, but a strong performance of the American gymnast! ... but she shouldn't be a menace for the Chinese  and also not for Ponor on the bronze rank. The audience is disappointed, Alexandra too! Fourth!! -- ???
Then loud screaming: Correction and Raisman is third!

4. PONOR, Catalina (ROU)
  = 15,066   (6.6)
... the actual European champion, was already in 2007 in Stuttgart at the World championships where she came on 4th place-  big insecurities after a 2 1/2-turn ... long combination good... despite all, she does the Tsukahara dismount - all-in-all too many mistakes...this won't be enough for a medal!!
At the end it seemed to be the bronze, but after a correction for Raisman's score, the exercise of the American gymnast had the same total score, but placed ahead of Ponor because of the higher execution score.

5. AFANASEVA, Ksenia (RUS) = 14,583 (5.8)

... the only one left from the Olympic final in Beijing 2008 (7th): - free handspring 1/2 twist ... Spagat jump1/1 ... ...handspring fw. -Salto sw. ... very concentrated until the dismount: double salto bw hocked, overturned and jump backwards!!

6.  IORDACHE, Larisa (ROU)  = 14,200   (6.4)
... Vice-European champion (2012) - ... starts with high speed and after flicflac, salto bw with 1/1 twist, she ... FELL DOWN! at the very end of the beam - the dream of a Romanian medal on beam was over. Pity, because the rest of the exercise was great!

7. DOUGLAS, Gabrielle (USA)  = 13,633    (6.0)
... handspring fw. double combination... salto bw. tucked. ... spagat jump ...  again spagat-jump with 1/2-turn: at the reception she slips away, tries to stay on the beam,...  but FALLS DOWN! ... pity there was a chance for a medal for her!

8.  KOMOVA, Victoria (RUS)   = 13,166   (6.2)
... 6th at the ECh this year - ... will she be lucky only once here in London? -  big insecurity after a 1/1 -turn ... performs carefully  and copes better with the difficulties... until the salto fw. tucked --- FALLS DOWN! ... what's happening with this great gymnast? ... also at the double twist at the end she lands on her back!! - these are not the Games for the World champion from Tokio 2011 - but at least she doesn't cry again!

Except the three medals, this wasn't a beam final worth the Olympic Games!!

1. RAISMAN, Alexandra (USA) = 15,600 (6.5)

... third at the WCh in Tokio (2011) - ... performs great from the beginning... triple twist and the last acrobatic row with doubke tucked , direct jump into the ending pose. The audience cheers for her and she gets in the lead!

2. PONOR, Catalina (ROU) = 15,200 (6.2)
... the Vice-European champion... the lady  from Romania... starts with a great Tsukahara bw stretched, then tempo-salti, Tsukahara tucked in the second row... great expression in the gymnastic's elements... triple twist in great height but with some body mistakes ... double salto tucked at the end of a great exercise!! The audience wants to see her in the lead and protests the score! She's on second place and stays there as Sandra Izbasa did mistakes!

3. MUSTAFINA, Aliya (RUS) = 14,900 (5.9)
... 2010 Vice-World champion behind Mitchell - seems very concentrated... very high double-twist 2 1/2-twist + 1/1-twist... elegant connections, insecurity at a spagat-turn and falls out of the achse ... double-salto bw. hocked, again very high ... triple twist at the end with unclean leg position. Seems to be healthy again after her injury in Berlin in 2010 at the ECh! Stays behind the other two because of the difficulty score.

4. FERRARI, Vanessa (ITA) = 14,900 (6.2)
... 4th at the ECh in Brusseks - extremely high double -Tsukahara hocked. ... again Tsukahara hocked... forward row ... double salto hocked at the end, seemed a bit strained ...

5.
MITCHELL, Lauren (AUS) = 14,833 (6.4)
... surprise World champion in Rotterdam (2010) - double-twist - ... Tsukahara tucked, jump connection a bit messy... ... double-salto tucked ... stays behind Ponor!

6. AFANASEVA, Ksenia (RUS)  =  14,566  (6.1)
... reigning World champion on floor:   is not lucky having to start the competition... elegance together with experience, a routine packed with difficulties, nice coreography, but stepped two times outside the carpet ...

7. WIEBER, Jordyn (USA)  = 14,500  (6.1)
... all-around World champion in 2011 and 6th on floor - a different type of gymnast, dynamic-acrobatic, accompagnied by a staccato music... problems after the first row.. also at the second row with triple twist ... finishes with double salto tucked.

8. IZBASA, Sandra (ROU)  = 13,333   (5.6)
... the Olympic champion from 2008, the only one left from the floor final in Beijing - she wanted to have the last word at these Games: Tsukahara, tucked,  triple twist combined with a jump, perfect ... no one performs as elegant as her ... tsukahara  ... and then a tragical end:  ...she failed completely the last 2 1/2-twist and falls !!! - the unlucky Romanians at least get silver with Catalina Ponor !!
