At first the "oldest active competitive gymnast in the world" Johanna Quaas, from Halle / Sa, was invited, but she couldn't be there because of a shoulder injury. Over 200 print publications alone in China mentioned her, so Johanna Quaas in China is a very, very well-known personality," said Zhang Xiaodong from the Central Chinese Television. Right now, she is gathering together material about the 11- time German senior champion.
And so the business representatives in Hong Kong were very much interested in inviting Johanna Quaas to demonstrate, parallel to the Olympic Games, what the human body is capable to do in advanced age. Due to her next competition starting on August 18th at the 90th Jahn Gymnastics Festival 2012 in Freyburg she completely wants to recover from a bursitis in his right shoulder and therefore she canceled the trip.

The Hong Kong event organizers brought with Klaus Köste more than a competent representative, he will become 70 in a few months and 40 years ago he became the Olympic champion in Munich (1972, vault).
A few years ago, he survived two life-threatening heart surgeries, but through his sport he regained life quality and physical condition!
Of course, the Senior athlete from Leipzig (GER) prepared his last practice test before his departure to Hong Kong!
