Junior Angelina Melnikova wins second Gold for Russia

According to Russian team gold the qualification best junior Angelina MELNIKOVA underlined with a convincing all-around victory with 57.107 points today, that the young Russian power generation is in the correct Olympic track, even if it was the second starter Seda Tutkhalyan not succeed today to secure the double victory because she fell back on rank 7. But for Romania Laura JURCA confirmed her performance and was awarded  Vice European Junior Champion with a total score of 56.698 points.
The little Russian weakness took advantage with a personal increase the Briton Elissa DOWNIE and won the bronze medal with 55.332 points.

The little sister of Rebecca Downie - member of the British elite team - has made British gymnastics history by winning Britain’s first ever women’s all-around medal in a European Championships.
Teammate Catherine Lyons placing in 4th just 0.101 marks behind Ellie.
Both British girls produced incredible performances across all four pieces of apparatus to continue a sensational week for the British junior girls having already claimed a historic team silver on Tuesday. Ellie finished with a total of 55.332 points with Catherine scoring 55.231.
Ellie's competition was defined by powerful and highly difficult work whilst Catherine brought artistry and flair to the arena. Ellie produced the best vault of the event and was consistent across all the pieces whilst Catherine shone on floor posting the best total on that apparatus.

The British girls showed superb composure and determination throughout the final with the only disappointment being that both couldn’t stand on the medal podium.
