work as a sports photographer takes me to many different sporting
events.....
but gymnastics however remains one of my favourite sports to shoot
and and it is certainly one of my most challenging and stimulating.
For me, Gymnastics is one of the few sports which still preserves
a spirit which embodies the classic virtues of sport. It is highly
competitive and in recent years, has been required to keep pace
with the modern commercialisation but it still maintains a
worldwide family atmosphere and is one of the few sports where
foul play and winning at all costs is not on the agenda..."

of 1996 Eileen Langsley and
the FIG published
"Gymnastics - The Art
of Sport" >>

Now the British top photographer Eileen Langsley finished her job in
behalf of the International Gymnastics Federation as the official FIG
photographer after 18 very successful years (1984 - 2002).
The big gymnastics family say: "Thank you, Eileen, for your great work
and all the wonderful pictures
and best wishes for the future!"

Now the German sports
photographer Volker Minkus fom
Hanover becomes the "Official Photographer" of the World
Gymnastics Federation FIG.
From 1989 on Minkus is the Manager of the "MINKUSimages
Agency". Of long standing he worked for the DTB (German
Gymnastics Federation), also at a lot of world championships,
world cups and Grand Prix in different gymnatics disciplines.
Volker Minkus is also a staff and good partner of the GYMmedia
Agency, because he is a specialist of digital technics, pictures
and modern communication....

Volker
Minkus volontierte bei einer renommierten Sportbildagentur in Düsseldorf
und studierte "Kommunikationsdesign", Fachrichtung
Fotografie an der Fachhochschule Dortmund. |
Volker
Minkus ist seit 2002 der offizielle Fotograf des Internationalen
Turnerbundes (FIG).
Dadurch ist eine Bilddokumentation von vielen Weltmeisterschaften
und Weltcup-Finals in den Bereichen Kunstturnen, Rhythmische
Sportgymnastik, Aerobic, Sportakrobatik und Trampolin gewährleistet. |
Minkus bietet zudem einen umfassenden Bildservice zum Thema "Breiten-,
Freizeit- und Gesundheitssport", sammelte er doch als langjähriger
"Hof-Fotograf" des DTB und durch die intensiven Kontakte zu
Landessport- und Landesturnverbänden, sowie in Zusammenarbeit mit
renommierten Sportredaktionen große Erfahrung und Sachkompetenz.
Neben der Auftragsfotografie für Kunden in den Bereichen
"Produkt" und "Architektur/Immobilien" liegen weitere
Arbeitsschwerpunkte bei den Themen "Sport/Freizeitsport" und
"Pädagogik/Menschen".
Inzwischen sind rund 14.000 Fotos in einer Datenbank gespeichert. Einen
Ausschnitt daraus präsentiert MINKUSIMAGES im Internet unter www.minkus-images.de
Erster Einsatz im FIG-Auftrag wird die
kommende Weltmeisterschaft der Sport Aerobic im litauischen Klaipeda
sein. Dort wird Volker Minkus auch für www.gymmedia.com
arbeiten.
