GFN Organises
Maiden National Youth Championship
September 25, 2008 (Leadership Nigeria):
Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria will in October 9-12 organise the
first National Gymnastics Under-8 and 10 championship, expected to
attract 42 Gymnasts from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja
as the host.
The championship is a new strategy introduced
by the federation to discover Gymnasts that would replace aging
athletes in the country.

investigates China's 2000 gymnastics team, too
September 24, 2008 (Associated Press):
China's gold medal gymnasts aren't the only ones whose ages are
getting a closer look. The investigation into the eligibility of
the Chinese women's team in Beijing has been expanded to include
members of the 2000 squad, which won the bronze medal in Sydney,
The Associated Press has learned.
International gymnastics officials are
examining whether Yang Yun and Dong Fangxiao, in particular, were
old enough to compete.

Kembangan dominated the top two spots on the podium in the
Under-12 overall standings to chalk up a perfect outing for the

Gymnasts reach out to autistic children

As the children go through the obstacle course, they approach the
various challenges differently. When asked to jump from one foam
block to another, some make daring leaps while others pause at
each level and cautiously step to the next. When asked to
somersault down a foam ramp, some dive head first, some roll on
their sides and others do a move that's somewhere in between.

Kalon Ludvigson of Pocatello, Idaho, earned the silver medal in
men’s tumbling at the 2008 World Cup Final in Togliatti, Russia.
2007 world tumbling champion Andrey Krylov of Russia won the gold
medal and Poland’s Jozef Wadecki claimed the bronze medal.
