GFN Organises Maiden National Youth Championship

September 25, 2008 (Leadership Nigeria): Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria will in October 9-12 organise the first National Gymnastics Under-8 and 10 championship, expected to attract 42 Gymnasts from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja as the host.

The championship is a new strategy introduced by the federation to discover Gymnasts that would replace aging athletes in the country.

FIG investigates China's 2000 gymnastics team, too

September 24, 2008 (Associated Press): China's gold medal gymnasts aren't the only ones whose ages are getting a closer look. The investigation into the eligibility of the Chinese women's team in Beijing has been expanded to include members of the 2000 squad, which won the bronze medal in Sydney, The Associated Press has learned.

International gymnastics officials are examining whether Yang Yun and Dong Fangxiao, in particular, were old enough to compete.

September 23, 2008 (The Star Online): Training buddies Au Wei Ran and Loh Chooi Joy continued their intense rivalry at the fifth International Children’s Tournament at Taichung in Taiwan recently. Ludvigson earns silver medal in men’s tumbling at World Cup Final

TOGLIATTI (RUS), September 20, 2008 (USA Gymnastics): Kalon Ludvigson of Pocatello, Idaho, earned the silver medal in men’s tumbling at the 2008 World Cup Final in Togliatti, Russia. 2007 world tumbling champion Andrey Krylov of Russia won the gold medal and Poland’s Jozef Wadecki claimed the bronze medal.

September 22, 2008 (Around the Rings): According to an Olympic Web site, one point separates four cities vying for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The tight race is based on the "Around The Rings" Olympic bid power index. Chicago, with 77 points, has a slim lead over fellow competitors Madrid, Rio de Janerio and Tokyo, which all have 76.
