Despite bad luck, Gold for Russia - Surprise Silver for Germany

Russian Victory – German surprise
After a dramatic injury of the title favourite Aliya Mustafina on the first apparatus, she had to be taken to hospital with a knee injury after an extremely difficult Yurtshenko jump with 21/2 twist.
Nevertheless her Russian teammate Anna Dementjeva assured Russia the continental gold with 57,455 points. After an excellent all-around competition, German gymnast Elisabeth Seitz won the silver medal (56,700), the first vice-champion title for the German female artistic gymnastics team after Maxi Gnauck’s (1985, GDR).
She even beat the two Romanian gymnasts Elena Racea (56,600) and Diana Chelaru (56,325) who placed 3rd and 4th.
Now the competition took an unexpected turn:
Anna Dementjeva, of the Russian World Champion team, was a perfect substitute for her injured teammate: on uneven bars she showed the brilliant Russian school of technique scoring 14,225 points, the third best results at this apparatus today, only Elisabeth Seitz and the Dutch van Gerner scored higher.
- Elisabeth Seitz started on jump with Yurtshenko 2/1 twist and got 14,620 points – only Ariella Käslin scored 0,100 points better!
- Diana Chelaru, Vice-World champion floor got 5.9 for the exercise contents and 14,550 – the highest score on floor today.
Still the injured Mustafina was in the lead, but behind came Seitz and Chelaru…

2nd rotation
_________________
- Diana Chelaru scored 14,325 at jump,
- Elisabeth Seitz did an impressive performance on her favourite apparatus, the uneven bars, with a stretched flight element, the "Def", with Tkatshov piked and Jägersalto and the Tsukahara-dismount and 14,720 points.
- Ariella Kaeslin (SUI) was happy about her flawless beam exercise - 14,100;
- Anna Dementjeva stepped outside the mat with a side step after the triple twist, but got a difficulty score of 6.6 and 15,150 points that kept her on the gold rank after half of the competition (29,40) ahead of Seitz (29,35) and Chelaru (28,90).

3rd rotation
________________
- Elisabeth Seitz on balance, very clever and stable, got 13,625 – now, with still the floor exercise left, she gets into the medal ranks!
- Elena Racea (ROM) on floor, solid (13,850), but not so strong that she could leave Elisabeth Seitz behind.

4th rotation
_________________
- Anna Dementjeva at jump: understandably that she didn't risk much after the deaster of her teammate Mustafina in the first rotation. She assured herself the gold medal with an easier Yurtshenko with 1/1twist = 14,600 and 57,475 that means the gold medal for her!
- Elisabeth Seitz on floor, she had to attack because both Romanian gymnasts were only slightly behind her. Big respect for her performance, solid and faultless routine (5.9) = 13,725, after the last German all-around silver for Maxi Gnauck in 1985 in Helsinki after 26 years without any medals a German gymnast could step on the podium
- Diana Chelaru made some little mistakes on balance beam, she got 13,950 for this exercise and couldn't beat Seitz with this score, buit won bronze.
- Elena Racea (ROM) although she showed Kasamatsu 1/1 scoring 14,575 she placed on the unlucky 4th place!
