A city called "Birmingham" has already been the host of Trampoline World Championships: It was in 1988, however in the city with the same name in the USA, in Jefferson County in the state of Alabama. In Great Britain the Trampoline World Championships took place already three times in London (1964, 1965 and 1967). At that time World Championships in this discipline started to take place. The competitions were still hosted by an own Federation (F.I.T.). The events took place in the Crystal Palace in London.

Record participation!
A true record number of participants has travelled to Birmingham - 319 athletes and 40 international delegations. In the Olympic individual disciplines alone 70 women and more than 120 men are included in the entry field.
According to the >> schedule the qualifications take place on Thursday (Nov. 17th).
The official opening ceremony will take place on Friday (Nov. 18th, 5:00 p.m.) and the first decisions will be made on Friday, starting at 7:00 p.m. local time, with the women's and the men's team finals.
The situation regarding the favourites is quite clear: Especially the Chinese gymnasts have belonged to the top-favourites for the last five years. Since 2007 they managed to overtake the Russians, which were winners in series before.

Germany came to Birmingham with experienced gymnasts, like Anna Dogonadse. Already since more than a decade she belongs to the Worlds best gymnasts. In 2004 she became Olympic Champion and now she wants to fight for a medal together with Jessica Simon also in the synchro competition.
The men's team will compete with Dennis Luxon (synchro only), Karsten Kuritz, Daniel Schmidt, Henrik Stehlik and Martin Gromowski.
Only the top 8 gymnasts directly qualify for the Olympic Games.
