For the first time, there are two medals in the Junior group competition at a European championship in rhythmic gymnastics - and this new competition format started with a surprise with Belarus winning gold with only 0.050 points advantage ahead of Russia this morning.

...despite that the five young girls from Nizhny Novgorod did an excellent routine today, getting 26.900 points for it, the gap to the Belorussians after yesterday's mistake was too big to reach the first position. The bronze medal went to Israel, fourth came Azerbaidjan and fifth Bulgaria. The Swiss girls lost one position and placed seventh, behind Italy, but enter tomorrow's final of the best eight groups together with Finland, on eighth position.

Even if none of the gymnasts of the favourite nations performed without mistakes and seemed to be quite nervous, the Russian individual gymnasts won the team gold medal in Minsk with 230.900 and more than 7 points advantage over Belarus (223.125). A little sensation is the third place for the Ukraine (214.200)that over the last years always had to let pass Azerbaidjan at World and European championships.
