* Junior Groups Final
...the Russian junior group won this Sunday morning the gold medal they had expected already for the all-around yesterday. With a faultless exercise scoring 27.100 points they placed 0.600 points ahead of the locals from Belarus (26.500) and Azerbaidjan (25.825).
Bad luck had the group from Israel, yesterday on third place, today they did mistakes getting even 0.40 points deduction from the final score that made them fall back on fifth place, behind Bulgaria.
It was the first time in the history of the European Junior Championships that two medal competitions were held. Heide Bruneder, UEG technical delegate, said: "this new format was established in order that training is worth it for the juniors as well". The Junior groups show only one exercise with the same five apparatus, not like the Senior groups two exercises with three different apparatus (one with five balls, one with ribbons and hoops this year).
Results Junior groups final:
1 Russia 27.100
2 Belarus 26.500
3 Azerbaidjan 25.825
