The document was approved by the FIG Council at its latest meeting in St Petersburg (RUS) on May 18 - 19, 2012, and will be implemented at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

* Reg. 4.4 TIE BREAKING RULES
* Reg. 4.4.1 Qualification
Qualification to competitions II, III and IV: in the case of a tie at any place the tie breaking rules set out in Reg. 5.4.1 to 5.4.3 (Technical Regulations) will apply.
* Reg. 4.4.2.1 Competition II
In case of a tie in points at any place in Competition II, the ranking will be determined by the following criteria:
* Reg. 4.4.2.2 Competition III
In case of a tie in points of the final score at any place on all apparatus except for vault, the ranking will be determined by the following criteria:
1. The gymnast with highest E-score will prevail
2. If they remain tied, the highest D-score will prevail
3. If they remain tied, the gymnasts will share the same classification
Competition III - VAULT
In case of a tie in points of the final score at any place on vault in Competition III, the rank will be determined by the following criteria:
1. The gymnast with highest score between the two vaults will prevail
2. If they remain tied, the highest E-score from either vault will prevail
3. If they remain tied, the highest D-score of either vault will prevail
4. If they remain tied, the gymnasts will share the same classification
In case of a tie in points at any place in Competition IV, the ranking will be determined by the following criteria:
1. The team with the highest sum of the team apparatus counting scores obtained will prevail (i.e. the total of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 highest apparatus team scores for men and the total of 3, 2, 1 highest apparatus team scores for women)
2. If they remain tied the teams will share the same classification.
3. If they remain tied, the highest total D score by adding all apparatus will prevail
4. If they remain tied, the gymnasts will share the same classification.
* Reg. 4.4.2 Finals
1. The gymnast with the highest sum of the final apparatus scores obtained will prevail (i.e. add the total of the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 of the highest final apparatus scores for men / the total of the 3, 2, 1 highest final apparatus scores for women
2. If they remain tied, the highest total E score by adding all apparatus will prevail.
