The
last series starting with quarter and semi finals and ending
with the final presented delightful performances in Artisitc and
Rhythmic gymnastics to the 2000 spectators in the SachsenArena
in Riesa. At this point the mixture between the top
stars of Artistic and Rhythmic gymnastics was perfect. The final
between winner Russia and the Ukraine was a highlight.
It is not too important, that Germany did not have any chance
against the later winner in the first turn, since it was bad
luck that they had to compete against the dream team...

Die
abschließende Serie von Viertel- über Semi- bis zu den beiden
Finals bescherten den 2000 Zuschauern in Riesa Turn- und
Gymnastikkost vom allerfeinsten. Hier stimmte die Dramaturgie
dieser Mixtur zwischen den Topstars des Gerätturnens und der
Gymnastik. Das Finale der beiden Mannschaften mit Sieger
Russland und der Ukraine gestaltete sich als der Höhepunkt.
Dass Deutschland in der ersten Runde keine Chance gegen den
späteren Goldmedaillengewinner hatte ist relativ unbedeutend,
weil eher dem Lospech zuzuschreiben...

General opinion of all participants
and responsibles of the European Gymnastics Union: What is going
to be presented as final today on Sunday would have been it. A
knock-out-competition is being expected, starting with
quarter and semi final of the best eight teams of yesterday and
finishing with a fight for the first three places of this Eurpean
team Championships. That would have been enough to convince the TV
stations before the competitions of this being a top-event, since
the positions were clear already after the last European
Championships and another qualification yesterday was not
necessarily needed and brought more frustration than anything else
with a procedure of six hours.
The spectators in the SachsenArena
are expectfully looking forward to exciting competitions, even if
the hosting Germans- competing against the champion of the
qualifications Russia out of all participants in the quarter
final- are not supposed to have any chance..

Einhelliges Urteil
aller Beteiligten und auch der Verantwortlichen der Europäischen
Turnunion: Das, was am heutigen Sonntag nun als Finals angeboten wurde
- das allein wär's gewesen. Zu erwarten war heute eine
k.o.-Runde über Viertel- und Halbfinale der besten 8 Teams des
Vortages, die dann in einem Finale im Kampf um die ersten drei
Plätze dieser Team-EM gipfeln wird. Dies allein hätte gereicht,
um den Fernsehstationen als Top-Event im zeitigen Vorfeld
schmackhaft gemacht zu werden, standen doch durch die letzten
Europameisterschaften ohnehin diese Rangfolgen fest und bedurften
eigentlich keiner neuerlichen Qualifikation am gestrigen Samstag,
die mit ihrem 6 Stunden-Prozedere eher Frust statt Lust
verbreitete.
So durfen sich die erwartungsfrohen Zuschauer in der SachsenARENA
auf spannende Wettbewerbe freuen, auch wenn die gastgebenden
Deutschen - im Viertelfinale ausgerechnet gegen den
Qualifikationssieger Russland ausgelost - keine Chance hatten...

Actually this European team Championships
was supposed to be a pleasure to the media. The six hours
in the SachsenArena were not pleasant to the media at all.
Despite some new rules, such as the integration of Rhythmic
gymnastics, the elimination of deleted scores and the
placement of Jokers in order to double the score, the
general concept of this event was not convincing at all.
Only the second day of the best eight teams and the
following knock-out-system will lead to the intended
shorter version- but the hosting TV station MDR does not
have a corresponding broadcasting time and will broadcast
ten minutes only of the top stars in its evening show
"Arena". Therefor the spectator was forced to be
patient and to make some effort to understand the scores
of the team results, worsened by the fact that there were
several versions of the two-team-competitions of the
quarter final. Bad luck for Germany: on the 7th position
they will have to compete against Russia, who performed
"in another sphere" and will not survive this
turn... |
Eigentlich
sollte mit dieser ersten Team-EM den Medien ein Gefallen
getan werden. Medienfreundlich, sprich überschaubar aber,
waren die sechs Stunden in der Riesaer SachsenArena
keineswegs. Trotz einiger erfreulicher Neuerungen, wie das
Einbeziehen der Rhythmischen Sportgymnastik, die
Verabschiedung der Streichnote und der originelle Einsatz
von Jokern zur Verdopplung der Punktzahl, überzeugte das
Gesamtkonzept dieser Veranstaltung keineswegs. Erst der
zweite Tag der besten 8 Teams und das sich anschließende
K.O.-System werden wohl zum gewollten Komprimat führen -
aber da hat die gastgebende TV-Sendeanstalt MDR kein
entsprechendes Sendegefäß und bringt von den Topstars
ganze 10 Minuten in seiner abendlichen Arena Sendung. So
mußte der gutwillige Besucher viel Geduld mitbringen und
sich redlich mühen, den Punktständen der Teamresultate
einen Sinn abzugewinnen, zumal es am Ende mehrere
Versionen für die ausgelosten Paarungen des
Viertelfinales gab. Pech für Deutschland: Als Siebente
sind sie dem Topteam Russland zugelost, die "wie aus
einer anderen Liga" turnten, und werden mit
Sicherheit diese nächste Runde nicht
überstehen.... (siehe

at 2 p.m. with some greeting words.

Lion of the Gymnastics
celebrations in action- The Lion from Leipzig- exactly one
year before the opening of the German Gymnastics
Celebrations in Leipzig- has the part of the Joker at this
European team Championships:
Every team may place the
mascot of Leipzig as Joker in every discipline, visible
for all in the competition hall. In this case the score of
the exercise is doubled atmosphere of preparations at
this first European team Championships, in relaxed
mood however. The organizers in Riesa did a good
job at preparing everything, the committees met,
the gymnasts could test the competition facilities.

well as Jelena Samolodschikowa and the Belorussian
gymnast Tkatschenko. |

Begrüßungsworten des DTB-Vizepräsidenten Hans-Jürgen
Zacharias und des Präsidenten der Europäischen
Turnunion, Klaus Lotz wurde exakt um 14.00 Uhr eröffnet.

Turnfest-Löwe
im Joker-Einsatz
Der Leipziger Löwe - exakt 1 Jahr vor der feierlichen
Eröffnung des 31.
Deutschen Turnfestes in der Sachsenmetropole Leipzig -
spielt bei dieser Team-EM die Rolle des Jokers:
Pro Disziplin
darf eine Mannschaft - für alle in der Wettkampfhalle
sichtbar -den Leipziger Maskottchen als JOKER setzten. In
diesem Falle erfolgt die Verdopplung der Punktzahl dieser
Übung herrscht Vorbereitungsatmosphäre allenthalben bei
dieser 1.
Team-Europameisterschaften -
jedoch alles in gelöster Atmosphäre. Die Riesaer
Organisatoren haben alles gut vorbereitet, die
Fachgremien tagten, alle Aktiven konnten ausführlich
die Wettkampfanlagen testen. Man sah eine gutgelaunte
Alina Kabajewa, Jelena Samolodschikowa, die weißrussische
Gymnastin Tkatschenko.. |

The
German team is doing well and gives a relaxed
impression, the Italians brought a well-known head
of their delegation: Juri Chechi, the legend at
the rings was watching his gymnasts, the Rhythmic
gymnasts as well, which is a rather unusual job
for him. Other legendary gymnasts are here, such
as the former World Champion Larissa Lukjanenko
from Belorussia, who is here as a coach.
Training together as a preparation for the
competition tomorrow- still everything
seemed to be quite easy...
The two youngsters in the German team, Olga
Lukjanov and Sandy Liebehenschel, who are only 14
years old, were smiling brightly:
"We are very happy, this is something
completely new for us and a big challenge."
The mixed teams presented themselves with visible
pleasure to the photographers' and TV cameras-
when do you actually have male and female gymnasts
and Rhythmic gymnasts in one team !
We will see how the modus of this first
European team Championships will be recepted- the
gymnasts like this "mix" anyway... |
Das deutsche Team ist
wohlauf und macht einen relaxten Eindruck, die Italiener
kamen mit prominentem Delegationsleiter: Juri
Chechi, der legendäre Ringeturner,
beobachtete
aufmerksam seine Aktiven - auch die Gymnastinnen - was
eine eher ungewohnte Aufgabe für ihn ist. Weitere
Sportler-Legenden sind vor Ort, so die weißrussische
Ex-Weltmeisterin Larissa
Lukjanenko, die als
RSG-Trainerin in Riesa weilt.
Gemeinsames Training
heute als
Vorwegnahme des morgigen Zweikampfs zwischen Italien und
Deutschland - alles sah noch sehr locker aus ...
Die beiden Youngster im deutschen Team - die
Gymnastinnen Olga Lukjanov und
Sandy Liebehenschel sind
gerade mal 14 Jahre alt - strahlten:
"Wir freuen
uns sehr, das ist was ganz neues für uns, und eine
riesige Herausforderung."
Den Foto- und TV-Kameras
stellten sich die Mix-Teams mit sichtlichem Vergnügen -
wann hat man schon mal Turnerinnen, Turner und
Gymnastinnen in einem Team.
Man mag ab morgen sehen, wie
Modus und Gestaltung dieser 1. Team-EM ankommen - den
Aktiven jedenfalls scheint dieser "Mix" zu
gefallen... |

In the right moment and just
before the European team Championships it became public that the chosen
teams of the DTB of the disciplines Artisitic Gymnastics, Rhythmic
Gymnastics and Trampoline concluded a new supply agreemnet with a good old
partner, which can be seen in Riesa already. The leading company
Grieshammer, without whom a gymnastics event in Germany seems impossible,
will replace the company GK Elite, who had a contract with the DTB before.
Once before already, Sport Grieshammer was the executing company
under the conditions of the former ARENA-contract from 1995 until 1999. |
Soeben
und rechtzeitig vor den 1. Team- Europameisterschaften wurde
bekannt, dass die Auswahl-Mannschaften des DTB in den
Sportarten Gerätturnen, Rhythmischer Sportgymnastik und
Trampolin ab sofort mit einem guten alten Partner einen
neuen Ausrüstervertrag abschließen werden der bereits in
Riesa in Erscheinung treten wird. Der
führende Fachversand Grieshammer, ohne den
bislang kaum eine Turn- oder Gymnastikveranstaltung in
Deutschland denkbar war und ist, löst damit die bislang
unter Vertrag stehende Firma GK Elite ab. Schon einmal, von
1995 bis 1999, unter den Bedingungen des früheren
ARENA-Vertrages, war Sport Grieshammer die ausführende und
dieses Bündnis in praxii umsetzende Firma. |
