According to a press release from SPIETH Gymnastics GmbH Esslingen the constructor of gymnastics apparatus REUTHER has separated with immediate effect from their Dutch licensee Janssen & Fritsen.

Reuther
Construction Seal

With the concentration on the market leader SPIETH the demand for high quality, which has been defined for decades already, should be realised even better. Through this SPIETH Gymnastic, being the first licensee for the original REUTHER springboards up to the complete program for elite sports apparatus, is due to its‘ consequent production and sales politics in Europe being integrated even closer by the company REUTHER. The company SPIETH Gymnastic has proved its‘ competence and market position in the area of elite sports gymnastics apparatus many times through providing the equipment for eight Olympic Games and numerous World- and European Championships, Asian Games and FIG-tours.

“Through this step we want to prove coaches and athletes that the construction seal “ORIGINAL REUTHER“ has kept its‘ acknowledged rank and will even extend it“, as could be heared from the company SPIETH.

The owner of the Dutch company Janssen & Fritsen, Jac Janssen, reacts on the release from the company SPIETH Gymnastic as follows:

"This press release by Spieth is incomplete and partly not correct
:

1. Absolutely wrong is the phrase: “... with immediate effect”...
The separation Janssen & Fritsen / Reuther has taken place already on December 31st, 1999.

2. It is being assumed that Reuther has now decided to concentrate on Spieth only...
This misrepresentation of facts is not acceptable. The lack of new developments by Reuther and the new
economic development in Europe have been the reasons for the separation J&F/Reuther in 1999.

Facts are the following:
Janssen & Fritsen have been the ones who started through a letter on February 17th, 1996 to end the up-to-then existing triangle relationship between J&F-Reuther-Spieth.

  • ·     In this triangle relationship the German market was closed for Janssen & Fritsen. This restriction of our commercial opportunities could no longer be accepted by us in a Europe were borders between the different countries have disappeared more and more.

  •       J&F has hold its‘ position by opening an own branch in Germany and finally Reuther has cancelled the contract with J&F (which existed since 1965) in a letter on Sept. 24th, 1998 to the date 31/12/99.

3. It is being assumed that Janssen & Fritsen from today on can’t built certain apparatus anymore...

  • The legal agreement between J&F and Reuther gives Janssen & Fritsen the opportunity to continue building all apparatus which had been produced up to then. However, since the end of 1999 the major part of the apparatus built by us are our own constructions, although the traces of the old Reuther-times can be clearly found in them.

  • Through permanent improvement our product line will depart more and more from the Spieth-apparatus in future.

Briefly spoken: J&F will continue producing and delivering all apparatus, with which the successful World Championships 2001 in Ghent have been organised,  - also to Germany.

4. It is being assumed that the position of Spieth gets stronger...

  • In former times, when Richard Reuther still was alive, Reuther had many competent licensees in Europe. After J&F have gone their own way since Dec. 31st, 1999, they have only Spieth who builds the Reuther-apparatus which hasn’t changed since a couple of years.

  • The weakening of the position from Spieth on the international area in future will probably also take place on the German market due to the open competition since the end of 1999.

The German gymnastics clubs can only win through this.
