Elizabeth Tweddle from the City of Liverpool Gym Club entered the
2001 British Championships as a debutante at the Senior level, but finished it
as the new All-around Champion. She opened convincingly on her best apparatus,
the Bars (9.000pts.), then fell twice from the Beam, but compensated for the
loss of points with steady performances on Floor and Vault.
Overall score of 34.150 pts. Holly Murdock
(Salto, N.Ireland) won the silver medal (34.000pts.), scoring highest on Vault-
9.125pts. Melissa Wilcox (Easton) took the
bronze scoring 33.037pts..

British Championships ever- in the last three years she has had to compete under
enormous pressure as a contender for the Junior title. Beth is the toughest

it with a smile".
Nicola Willis was awarded The Elite Trophy
as the best performer on Floor (9.150pts.), and Beth Tweddle – with The Pat
Hurst Award for her extraordinary A.Bars routine (9.00pts.)
