Johanna Quaas (96) - Greetings to Munich and Freyburg! |
Germany's 96 years old senior gymnast Johanna QUAAS was overjoyed about the success of the two golden girls to the European Championships in Munich:
"What this Elisabeth Seitz has done for a big and long gymnastics career is unique, now even crowned with gold, is incredible! My warmest congratulations! I also know what hard work it is to stay on the apparatus for so long! And the fact that an 18-year-old is also top shows which development impulses this Emma Malewski has received in the Chemnitz gymnastics school. As a former coach, I know how long-term such development work must be done! Especially we age group gymnasts appreciate this, because all of us have been staying on the apparatus for decades, for the sake of health and performance.

"... this was my last victory with 92 years in Freyburg!" |
It is rather a coincidence that at the same time as my gymnastics colleagues from my club in Halle, Lukas Dauser and Nils Dunkel, are taking part in the European Championships, our highlight of the year is also taking place in the Jahnstadt Freyburg to the same time! This should be seen symbolically, because top sport only makes sense if our sport is practiced by thousands in the clubs. And at the upcoming 98th Jahnturnfest 2022 in Freyburg / Unstrut, it will become clear what one can still achieve as a 'golden-ager' even at a more mature age! I did my last competition there at the age of 92. And when I think of Goethe, it occurs to me:
'I praise my Freyburg - it is a 'small Olympia' of everyday life'!
.
Now I don't officially compete anymore, but morning bed exercises and fitness exercises on the balcony are part of my daily program. And after my bicycle accident a year ago and the femoral neck fracture, I'm already cycling again - we have such a nice circuit, right behind the house ...
Currently, unfortunately, a private travel appointment prevents my presence this time on the gymnastics meadow in the Jahn City, but I congratulate all who have fought the stupid pandemic disability of the last two years with their own activity, have also activated again and can be there again.
I hope however to be able to be present then again with the next two Jahnturnfesten, because in the olympia year 2024 it is to give's the 100th!!!
I would be there but already 99 .... well, let's see!
.
So greetings to the Jahn City
- I am with you with heart and thoughts, wish fun at the movement and good success of course also to our ECh boys in Munich!
