2nd Aerobic World Cup 2014 in Aix-les-Bains

With four gold medals, France was the most successful nation at the Aquae Aerobic World Cup, held over the weekend in Aix-les-Bains (FRA), home of the French National Training center for Aerobic Gymnastics. French veterans and reigning World Games gold medallists Benjamin Garavel and Auélie Joly topped the field in Mixed Pairs, turning in a difficult and dynamic performance that scored 20.5 points and contained the highest difficulty and execution marks in the final. That was enough to top Russia's Polina Amosenok and Anton Shishigen (20.100) as well as French teammates David Orta and Clara Baraquet (19.500). Garavel, the 2013 World Cup and World Games champion, continued his run of success in the Men's Individual category, defeating Maxime Decker-Breitel (FRA) 21.700-21.450 points. With the highest execution score in the men's individual final, Mexico's Ivan Veloz picked up the bronze (21.150). Twenty-three-year-old Garavel's victory is his second consecutive on the World Cup circuit this season -- he also took the men's title at the World Cup in Catanhede (POR) three weeks ago.
