Renewed greatness on display at Cantanhede Aerobics World Cup

* W G -: Elegant Kurashvili was the only female gymnast to take home multiple golds across the five finals. Light on her feet as always, the European champion dominated the individual women’s field with her “Interstellar”-inspired routine. 20.500 points was enough to finish ahead of Faidra Diamanti (GRE), whose silver with 19.900 signalled that she will be a force to be reckoned with this year.

Kurashvili and longtime partner Stanislav Halaida then won the Mixed Pairs title ahead of rising Italian stars Lucrezia Rexhepi and Matteo Falera. The Ukrainians’s rousing performance was accompanied by an equally enthusiastic reaction to their score — 19.950 — that had both on their feet in the kiss and cry as they took in the result.

Mane blended speed and jumping ability in a new routine that was by turns playful and powerful en route to the men’s title. 20.700 outscored his longtime rival Davide Nacci (ITA), who finished with 20.450.

Fan Siwei, Wang Zhenhao and Xu Tong (CHN) extended their winning streak in Trio, edging Polina Kakkoeva, Leisan Kupershmit, and Mariia Paniushina (AIN) 19.800 to 19.722. Bolstered by Fan, Wang, and 2024 World champions Zhang Jingshan and Li Lihao alongside Zhou Donghao, the Chinese group romped to gold with 19.950, just ahead of Italy and Spain.

The 2026 Aerobics World Cup series continues with the final edition of the long-running Tokyo World Cup 18-19 April.
