World Champions Gazov and Velos - top in Cantanhede

Reigning Aerobic Gymnastics World champions Ivan VELOZ (MEX) and Lubov GAZOV (AUT), who won the Men's and Women's Individual categories, respectively, at the 2014 World Championships in Cancun (MEX), prevailed at the first 2015 World Cup of the season in Cantanhede (POR) at this first weekend in March.

While Veloz led with almost one entire point, Gazov shared the top of the podium with Dora HEGYI of Hungary, who equalled her score.

Mexico's Veloz qualified in first place with a score of 21.850 and produced 21.750 in the final to outscore Japan's Ryo Koreeda and Russia's Anton Shishigin, who shared second place with 20.800 points. Prevailing over Gazov by a mere .050 points, 24-year-old Hegyi led the women's field in qualifications with a total of 20.650.
Both gymnasts improved in the final to score 21.050 points.
They were joined on the podium by Hegyi's compatriot Linda Bucsanszki, who earned bronze with 20.000 points.
 

The 2015 Aerobic Gymnastics World Cup Series continues on April 4 - 5 in Tokyo (JPN). 

About the 2015 FIG Aerobic Gymnastics World Cup Series
The 2015 FIG World Cup circuit in Aerobic Gymnastics includes three category B events, all featuring qualification rounds and finals in Men’s and Women’s Individual, Mixed Pair, Trio, and Group categories.
With stopovers on two continents, competitions are slated for February 27 – March 1 in Cantanhede (POR), April 4 - 5 in Tokyo (JPN), and May 2 - 3 in Borovets (BUL).
World ranking points collected by the competitors will add up to a total, with all results from the circuit counting, and the top scorers in each category will be crowned winners of the overall series at the final event in Borovets.
