The 2024 Festival BLUME OPENING GALA

A warm Sunday evening in the Yumbo business centre in the Canary Islands tourist metropolis of Maspalomas:
Long before the Opening Gala of the 62^nd BLUME FESTIVAL 2024, the seats were highly coveted and occupied and island television also broadcast the festive contributions of the guests from 15 countries. They had all prepared diverse and new programmes and show contributions. The content included traditional folklore from the guest berbers, choreographed dances with a variety of gymnastics and acrobatics, as well as daring pyramid constructions and breathtaking trampoline jumps ...

The auditorium, which had actually come together for a joyous occasion, initially remained in honourful remembrance: Blume-OK Chief Jesus Telo Rodriguez and the mayor of Maspalomas remembered the president of the host organisation ‘Gimnasio Las Palmas’, Cornelio Ortega MARTINEZ, who died shortly before the festival, and all the guests and performers expressed their heartfelt condolences with a minute's silence!
The 62^nd BLUME Festival de Gran Canaria was then opened in the spirit of the meritorious deceased co-founder of this festival ..:

♦ With sensitive words in Spanish, English and German, the German presenters Ivonne HERR and Conny STANGE-SANCHEZ then led the way to a colourful, sport-focused potpourri of images, sounds and movements that make this Blume Festival so unique - in the spirit of the late gymnastics teacher Cornelio, who himself worked on this festival profile for over half a century!

♦ As always, the traditional programme kicked off with a Canarian dance group, which symbolically pointed out how this BLUME festival has shaped and enriched the leisure activities of the island's population over the past six decades:

♦ Lakeuden Taitovoimistelijoiden, - a "tongue twister", ... the complicated name of the Finnish festival newcomers: this club, which has been in existence since 2000, impressed with an impressive line-up of 57 performers with a cross-section and a successful presentation of its sporting vision: acrobatic gymnastics and gymnastics is a growing and popular form of leisure in Finland under the umbrella of the Finnish Gymnastics Federation.

♦ It is well known that Belgium is historically one of the most traditional gymnastics nations in Europe.
The GymFlex Club is not only continuing this tradition, but is also young, dynamic and very active. In the summer they already took part in the GYMfestival in Riccione, Italy - now the gymnasts are enjoying the sun, warmth on the island of ‘eternal spring’, and of course the applause of the spectators in the Yumbo Commercial Centre in Maspalomas:
Their acrobatic fireworks display met with great acceptance at this warm evening in Maspalomas ...:
