Over 700 foreign participants from 15 countries are expected at BLUME 2024!

With the 62^nd International Gymnastics Festival ‘BLUME - GRAN CANARIA’ (29 November to 5 December 2024), the island of Gran Canaria will once again experience a grandiose festival, spread over 22 gymnastics festivals in 7 municipalities on the island:  
Agüimes, Ingenio, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Mogán, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santa Brígida and Telde.
The international event has already been presented during 2024 with its own information stands at the European festivals of the International Gymnastics Calendar in Germany, Denmark and Great Britain, among others.

Over 1,800 athletes in 56 national and 42 international groups are expected to take part.
More than 700 participants from 15 countries will almost duplicate the number of participants in 2023, mainly from Central European, Scandinavian and British countries, and will enjoy a gymnastics week full of experiences in Gran Canaria.
The islands of the Canary archipelago, Lanzarote, Tenerife and La Palma will be represented with over 100 participants from 8 groups.

A special treat for the BLUME festival guests will also be an
agreement with the world-famous Canadian ‘Cirque du Soleil’:

The Cirque will be making a special guest appearance with his current show ‘BAZZAR’ in Meloneras / Maspalomas at the same time and will be inviting the Blume Festival guests with special discounts’

In an initial press release issued by the Canary Islands organisers a few days before the start of the 62nd edition of this ‘festival with heart’, the hosts gave
gave an impressive overview of the great international response since the festival was founded in 1960:

•     By 2023, a total of 4,772 groups from 47 countries have travelled to the festival and experienced this event with 182,750 active participants!The international frontrunners were:
  ♦ Germany with 40 delegations and 6,196 participants
  ♦ Denmark (36 groups, 5,646 guests)
  ♦ Great Britain (38 groups, 5,061 guests) and
  ♦ Sweden (25 groups, 1,321 guests) ...
•      ... who, together with a total of 60 groups/clubs from the Canary Islands/Spanish hosts and their 162,745 enthusiastic participants, made a great encounter possible. From the continental Spanish capital of Madrid alone, 40 delegations and 1,218 participants attended the festival
• ... and from the Canary Islands alone there were over 160,000 festival participants!

These figures alone are proof of the enormous impetus this has given to the development of popular sport in the Canary Islands, but also in Europe and worldwide:

• In particular, the cooperation of the Blume organisers with schools, educational institutions and universities led to an exemplary combination of gymnastics, gymnastic and show content with the structures and training content of popular education throughout the year.
• The high number of stage shows throughout Gran Canaria and the internationally orientated media and press work, including information stands at major international events and national gymnastics festivals throughout Europe, created an enormous public impact for this festival philosophy!
• Through a professional and clever logistical combination of tourist and sporting content, as well as humanity's striving for meaningful, active leisure activities with the geographical advantages of Gran Canaria as the ‘island of eternal spring’, the festival organisers have succeeded in creating a unique mixture of age-appropriate sporting leisure activities and simultaneous social and transnational encounters - entirely in line with the European strategy of peaceful coalescence of nations.
• The European Gymnastics Federation, for example, derived the ‘Golden Age Festival’ from this.  So the Blume Festival effectively promoted the international exchange of coaches, lecturers and instructors and utilised the structures between elite and popular sporting elements in an exemplary manner.
