Rebecca BROSS take the rest of the World by surprise

The long womens qualification day in London's O2-Arena ends with a surprisingly success of the US gymnast Rebecca BROSS.

She leads with  a score of 57,400 in front of the Rumanian Ana PORGRAS (57,300), followed by the strong Australien Lauren MITCHELL with 56,675 points.

The women's all-around final of the best 24 gymnasts will held Friday, October 16.

* SUBDIVISION IThe Russian Ekaterina KURBATOVA has set the first guiding value of the all-around section with 55.950 points for the opponents, followed by the Olympics winner YANG, Yilin (CHN), who despite a fall after a rim with whole rotation is in 2nd position with 55.500 points.
More than one good all-around excersise was done by the German world championship beginner Elisabeth SEITZ, whose 52,225 points are highly respected and mean the third best result in the first group, whose technique -  especially on the floor and at the uneven bars is very good, even if certain demonstration problems will be the focus of further training. A new talent in the making.
Outstanding achievements were by the two Romanians Maria CHELARU (Floor: 13,475) and Gabriela DRAGOI (Level Bars: 14,150).

* SUBDIVISION IIIUnderstandable that in this round the hall has filled with guests and enthusiasm, as the"Tweddle" group performed:
All the more disappointing then, when the British star of the previous years Elisabeth TWEDDLE made a drastic step mistake on the floor after her dynamic beginning - 14,075 - perhaps just enough to make it to the final...?!
But then the uneven bars: confident and strong as always her beginning - but then the fall after Tkatschev with 1/2 twist. Still astounding that after the deduction of 1 point, she still got 13,850. However it could mean a bitter truth for the British audience...!
The fact that it is not always the athletes fault was shown by the level-bar performance of the highly rated Yana DEMYANCHUK: at the end of the excercise, in the change from the lower to the upper bar, she did not reach the holm, though it was minimally missed. Before her, it had been the tall Czech Sikulova's turn, ... did the Ukrainian trainer who adjusted the apparatus for her trainee perhaps not pay enough attention to the apparatus...?
Instead one of the Chinese "age problem cases" of the Olympics squad of the previous year, HE, Kexin, reached the top position, impressively, if not as agressively as in Beijing. Considering the many errors made at this apparatus, perhaps a tactical outstanding achievement: 15.975, with a 7.1-point difficulty index a potential gold candidate!
In the all-around competition the understated but on a high level performing Romanian Ana PORGRAS was top in the leage with 57,300. The olympics gymnast of the USA, Bridget SLOAN pushed herself behind DENG, Lilin and ahead of Kurbatova in third position, followed by YANG, Yilin and by Ksenia SEMENOVA (RUS).

* Temporarily Results, Subdivision III
1. Porgas (ROU) 57,300
2. Deng (CHN) 56,350
3. Sloan (USA) 56,075
4. Kurbatova (RUS) 55,950
5. Yang (CHN) 55,500
6. Semenova (RUS) 54,900
7. Morel (FRA) 54,200
8. Kim Bui (GER) 54,175

* SUBDIVISION V
The US-American Rebecca BROSS took up the lead in the all-around competition with especially strong performances on the level-bars (14,575), beam (14,850) and floor (14,175) and beset the so far leading Romanian with a 1/10-lead on the second place.
Another strong performance was offered by Australias Lauren MITCHELL, who pushed herself up above DENG on third place (56,675).
Just before Russian SEMENOVA, Ariella KAESLIN from Switzerland managed 9th position and is therefore surely qualified for the final, as is the German champion Kim BUI on place 16. European vault  champion KAESLIN as fourth best is also in the vault final. The European championship 3rd place on the level-bars Anja BRINKER from Germany could not enjoy similar achievements. Failures due to prefield injuries could not be compensated - a disappointing place 25 only on this apparatus.
Only  0,775 points were missing for Elisabeth SEITZ in order to reach the end round of the best 24 gymnasts. "Replacement" 3, can however be content with her world championship debut.
