Intern. ACRO Tournament Stars above River

Acrobatic gymnasts from 10 different countries competed at the 18th International Acrobatic Gymnastics Tournament “Stars above the Boug River” in Vinnitsa (UKR) on February 23-28, 2009.

2008 Silver Medallists Tatjana De Vos and Florence Henrist from Belgium ( < photo, left) topped the ranking of the Women’s Pairs competition with a total of 86.613, edging out their competitors from the host country.
The Russian Groups collected Gold in both the Senior Women’s and Men’s categories. ...

Ukrainian Men Group: beaten by the Russians and Belorussians at home!

* ... Women:
Outperforming their rivals, Russian Trio Ekateryna Stroynova, Ekateryna Loginova and Aygul Shaykhutdinova won Gold with 88.320. With Anastasia Chistyakova replacing Aygul Shaykhutdinova, this Group placed second in 2008 in Glasgow, beaten only by their own compatriots. Nicely mirroring the Men’s competition, the Byelorussian Women’s Group took home the Silver medal with a 85.926 point score. The Ukrainian Group earned Bronze with a total of 83.302.

Their score of 85.109 earned Kazakhstan’s Men’s Pair Konstantyn Averyn and Petr Gmyzyn the Gold, beating Egor Lyapin and Artem Ratushnoy from Ukraine, who settled for a Silver with 84.360.
The Portuguese Pair Joao Maia and Tiago Figueiredo, who ranked fifth at the 2008 World Championships, captured Bronze in Vinnitsa, with a score of 83.058.

Ukraine’s Katerina Sitnikova and Anastasiya Melnichenko captured the Silver (86.246) and World Championship participants Ayla Ahmadova and Dilara Sultanova (AZE) finished third with 85.969.

* M I X E D  P A I R S
In the Mixed Pair category, Menno Vanderghote and Julie Van Gelder collected another Gold for Belgium, placing them way ahead of their competitors with 87.207.
Kazakhstan’s Gulmira Dalmukhan and Makhmujan Akhmedov scored the 84.047 points that won them the Silver and placed the Ukrainian Pair in third place.
Kateryna Pysarenko and Oleksiy Sorochan (UKR) posted a total score of 83.666.
