9th EUROGYM 2014 finished in Helsingborg

The great European Youth Festival "EUROGYM 2014" from July 13 to 18, was back in Helsingborg in Sweden for five days of events, activities, performances and shows all under the label of Gymnastics. Two years after Coimbra/POR and two years before Ceske Budejovice, in the Czech Republic, Helsingborg/SWE welcomed and hosted about 4600 participants representing 22 different European countries assisted by approx. 400 volunteers… The message of the organisers was clear: «the city is yours» and all that the youngsters had invaded the beaches, parks and streets of Helsingborg and enjoyed the incredible atmosphere there was here in these five event days.
The young gymnasts participated in different workshops such as: Basketball, street dance, acroyoga, windsurfing, skateboard, mini-golf and more… and showed their stage performances in one of the 4 venues dedicated to the participants’ shows.

To the very first time: "EUROPE GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE"
On the brink of the 9^th EUROGYM, the test of the Europe Gym for Youth Challenge was organised one day before opening of EUROGYM 2014 in Helsingborg (Sweden) and at the end it was a real success!

25 teams came of 13 European countries and a total of 650 young gymnasts has participated at this Test Event.

The first edition of this contest has started with the opening ceremony. The member of the Executive Committee Mr. Paolo FRISING, who hoisted the official flag of the event following by the welcome words of Mrs. Malin EGGERTZ FORSMARK (President ND SWE and Vice-President of the UEG) and Mr. Alberto LOUREIRO NUNES (President TC – GfA). The teams, competed one after the other during 1h30, passing through a rhythm to another, from a song to another, with or without apparatus with exercises of maximum 3 minutes…

The participant teams were noted according to different criteria (which had all the same value) as example the show value, innovative qualities, originalities and variety; the quality and the control of the performance (especially at the technical level) and finally the general impression.

But this event was really the way for the young Europeans to take advantage of the opportunity to meet, have fun and to compete in a good mood on some prepared choreographies for this occasion and in this way to improve their gymnastics performances.

* Regrettably, the Swedish organizers were not yet a Member of the European Gymnastic Festival Council (EGF).
Thus we couldn't report daily from the many-colored activities. But in the end we present some impressions from Helsingborg, which was able to experience our GYMmedia photographer and correspondent Achim Schäfer site ...
