(I) Final ROPE There
could not have been a better atmosphere for the 11 competitiors in the
final competition. Hours before the opening, the first fan groups were
in the fair hall number 9, which is sold out completely today. Over 4,000
spectators with posters and flags were warming up with cheers before the
event. A crowed press tribune, where people had to stend yesterday
already. The first announcement was not completed yet, when enthusiastic
cheering started in the arena… |

| >> Alina Kabaeva can move
freely through the final competitions, she is the World Champion already
– therefore she presented herself less nervous than in the All-round
competition. Despite a mistake at the end of her routine, she was
leading afterwards. >> A completely new name was Inna Yukova’s, who did not show up too much at international competitions before these World Championships, but did a better job than her better-known team-mate Elena Ossiadovskaya. Inna represented best Byelrussian gymnastics with excellent technique and neat execution, but seems a little pale among all the stars. >> The most famous Byelorussian gymnasts at the moment is Elena Tkachenko, who started for the Ukraine some years ago. She has real chances to win a medal, but her rope routine today won’t do. >> Pretty Simona Peycheva achieves the second rank with here routine full of temperament, but not without mistakes. Her appearance could be a commercial for the discipline. >> For Irina Tchachina it “rained” pets, as she fascinated the audience with her mixture of elegance and sporty execution. She might have won, if she had managed her last turn-around. Hence Alina Kabaeva remains in front. >> Tamara Yerofeeva, the last gymnast in this final competition, was concentrated, but made some little mistakes concerning the execution, in general her routine was beautiful and included exceptional turn-arounds. As in the All-round competition she is slightly better than Peycheva and achieves the third position. |

Report, HOOP: |

| >>
Anna Bessonova as lady completely dressed in white, with
small mistakes and a spectacular element at the end: Lying she catches
the hoop with the foot, throws it again – and catches it with the body. >> Simona Peycheva with a vivacious and well-performed routine, who always arouses enthusiasm with her choreography, too – goes to the top. >> Golden-black is the outfit for one of the most beautiful choreographies of these World Championships: The hoop routine of Tamara Erofeeva is an accomplished masterpiece presenting the connection of music and movement in perfection. >> Another WCh highlight: Irina Tchachina with her original, difficult routine with hoop almost flawlessly presented: >> But the judges restrain themselves: Alina Kabaeva will still come. The hoop remains her trauma: An animating, excellently performed routine, presented free and sovereign – but then her hoop jumps away just seconds to the end of the routine and rolls and rolls – there is no chance left for the third gold medal. >> Inna Jukova with a clean performance which, however, does not enable her to place better than eighth. >> Result:
First gold for Tchachina, first WCh medal for Peycheva. (FromMadrid:
