The "47th Festival BLUME-Gran Canaria 2007" from November 27th to December 2nd 2007 will once again bring together thousands of sportsmen and -women, young people and senior citizens, top class, hobby and handicapped gymnasts from Europe and beyond on the Island of Everlasting Spring.
"There is no better place to act as a EU-ambassoador of the Year of Equal Opportunity than during this 'Festival of Hearts'!' - says Ronny Ziesmer, who is also an ambassador for this globally unique happy gymnastics event, which unites all the participants through sporting activities. Evaluation and competition have no importance at this festival, where people meet to get to know each other, talk about their experiences, and share and active and exciting holiday. 'What impressed me most where the many shows put on by the various participating groups' says Ziesmer, a former member of the German national gymnastics team who is now confined to a wheel chair and who took part in the festival two years ago....

47th International Sports Festival 'BLUME - GRAN CANARIA'

Sportsmen and -women from Europe and beyond will meet again in the island's capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the holiday centres Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles and the towns Ingenio, Arucas and Telde and showcase the variety of gymnastics with their presentations. Just as every year, the hosts want to celebrate a superlative sports festival. It is intended to be a climax of international friendship.

"2. INTERNATIONAL GYMNASTICS FESTIVAL 50+"
As last year, the organizers led by Jesus TELO will combine the BLUME-Festival which commemorates the Spanish four-times European champion who died in an accident in 1957 "2nd International Gymnastics Festival 50 +", which was so sensationally successful with the senior sportspeople who love travel and gymnastics and has now become a fixture in the calendar of happy gymnastics.Guests from 16 countries came last year to participate in workshops, presentations, to meet each other and enjoy the palmlined beach in weather perfect for bathing weather...!

Just before the grand jubilee of the half-century, the 47th BLUME-GRAN CANARIA has long become the biggest happy gymnastics event organized by the Spanish gymnastics association (R.F.E.G.) and a unique sporting meet of people of different age groups, perspectives and physical abilities.

Real Equality of Opportunities...!
For example, groups of mentally handicapped people and athletes who present fantastic achievements although they are bound to a wheelchair a re integrated into the many-facetted programme of the festival.

"Here, equal opportunities and non-discrimination are really put into action", says the former member of the German national gymnastics team, Ronny Ziesmer, himself paralysed as the result of a training accident in 2004, who has been acting as an ambassador for the festival since his participation in 2005 and plans to reenforce his activities as a 'EU ambassador in the year of equal opportunities' .
'At the moment we are doing our best to direct the interest of the European Union to this unique and sympathetic event', says the former German gymnastics champion, who also supports the EU all over Europe so der ehemalige Deutsche Turnchampion, der die EU europaweit auch in its fight against discrimination!
