FIG Acro World Cups 2025

More than 110 gymnasts from 13 nations have flocked to Rzeszow for this weekend’s competition (June 27 - 29).
Portugal, the big winner at last week’s World Cup in Aalen/GER (- see below) has sent its winning competitors straight on to Rzeszow.
Great Britain, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine have all dispatched large teams, making this competition one of the most competitive of 2025.

* Rzeszow revving for final Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup of 2025

The curtain is dropping on the World Cup season in Acrobatic Gymnastics, but two affairs remain to be settled: the final World Cup event 27-29 June in Rzeszow (POL), and the crowning of the overall World Cup series champions.

With August’s World Games in China looming on the horizon, the final World Cup stop brings together reigning World champions and the emerging favourites for one last head-to-head. The occasion also affords a final chance for pairs and groups to garner valuable ranking points in the overall World Cup series standings.

Headliners include 2024 World gold medallists Goncalo Parreira and Miguel Lopes (POR) and Daniel Abbasov and Murad Rafiyev (AZE) in Men’s Pair, Women’s Pair Maysae Bouhouch and Silke Macharis (BEL), and Mixed Pair Anastasiia Semenovych and Bohdan Ivanyk (UKR).

* F I G - : Portuguese teams won three of a possible four titles at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup in Aalen (GER) 19-21 June, asserting themselves once again as one of the world’s dominant Acro nations.

Stellar performances from 2024 World Men’s Pair Dynamic champions Goncalo Parreira and Miguel Lopes, Mixed Pair Lara Fernandes and Guilherme Henriques, and undefeated-in-2025 Women’s Group Leonor Carreira, Ema Fernandes and Alicia Santos combined to give the Portuguese a near sweep of the golds. Veterans Beatriz Carneiro and Ines Faria (POR) added bronze in Women’s Pair.

♦ Great Britain was the only other nation to reach the top of the podium as Women’s Pair Jessica Flay and Lydia Mulvey’s 27.740 points for their Combined routine earned them gold. Another bright note for the British was a silver medal from Men’s Pair Hector Kinghorn and Harley Curtis-Lawrence, who splintered off from a group after last year’s World Championships. Kinghorn and Curtis-Lawrence were the first-place qualifiers to their final but were edged by Parreira and Lopes’s 27.850 in the new life final. With bronze in Women’s Group, Karla Hillcoat, Emma Logan and Gemma Russell (GBR) completed the full set of colours won by British teams.
♦ A historic moment for Austria
After several years of building, Austria has its first World Cup medal in Acrobatic Gymnastics thanks to Graz-based Mixed Pair Daria Angerbauer and Jan Wassermann, who earned the silver medal with 26.690 points. The duo previously finished fourth at the World Cup in Burgas (BUL) and seventh in Puurs (BEL) this year. "After the qualifying routines, we knew that a perfect performance could lead to a medal," recounted Wassermann, 20, who is competing as a first-year senior with 15-year-old Angerbauer. "We showed one of our best routines and we are very proud of our performance and the first Acrobatics World Cup medal for Austria."

♦ Dutch Acro also had a big moment with the silver medal performance of its elegant Women’s Group Amiyah Daal, Esmee de Graf and Inge Speerstra, whose 28.230 came within half a point behind the gold medallists from Portugal.

♦ Host nation Germany earned a pair of medals. 2023 European champions Laura Karczmarzyk and Leni Ohlsen (GER) won silver in Women’s Pair after Men’s Pair Lyven Strempel and Hannes Woitass (GER) claimed bronze.

Finally, Mixed Pair Agata Makowska and Michal Szustak (POL) brought Poland a bronze, less than two points off Fernandes and Henrique’s winning 27.990 total. That’s a good omen for the Polish, who will host the final World Cup of the year in Rzeszow 27-29 June.
