* fig press release: --- A coach and three Russian acrobatic gymnasts perished in a fire that ravaged their hotel the night of Saturday, August 30-31, 2008: Gymnasts Anastasia Golovitnina, Anna Maryina and Olga Gofman and their coach Svetlana Kushu - the foursome was training in Gelendjik (RUS), a coastal town on the Black Sea not far from Socchi and Krasnodar.
Lightning hit the building causing an immediate blaze.

New host nation wanted!
After Russia's withdrawal as host for the World Championships in Acrobatic Gymnastics, scheduled for June 2008, no new host has been determined yet. 
According to the Gymnastics World Federation F.I.G., Great Britain and the USA are availabe as new hosts. A decision about this will be taken soon.

The  23rd European Championships of Acrobatic Gymnastics ended with the elite's finals on Saturday, October 27 in s'Hertogenbosh, Netherlands.
Including the 7th European Junior Championships and the 3rd European Age Group Competions nearly 400 participants, representing 23 nations took part at this continental higlight of this discipline.
