2012 Loulé World Cup
The 3rd edition of the Loulé Trampoline World Cup
is co-organised by the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation and APAGL. Standing out from the list of participants are London 2012
Olympians Masaki Ito
and Yasuhiro Ueyama
of Japan, who fell just shy of a medal finishing 4th and 5th respectively, as well as Belarusians Tatsiana Piatrenia
(5th) and Viatchaslau Modzel
(12th) and Maryna Kyiko
(16th) of Ukraine.
Also lining up is 2011 World Champion
in women’s Synchronised Trampoline Jessica Simon
of Germany together with her new partner Leonie Adam
. In Tumbling
, Anna Korobeynikova, Anzhelika Soldatkina
and Andrey Krylov
of Russia, 2011 World runner up and Bronze medallists respectively, will be present.
Most experienced member of the Portuguese team is 26-year old Ana Simoes
, who counts her Bronze medal in Double Mini-trampoline at the 2005 World Championships
among her biggest achievements. She competes in the Individual category at this 2012 World Cup. The Organising Committee
will run also an international Double Mini-trampoline event
of the highest senior level along with the World Cup competition. Event history in Portugal
After the first World Cups in Portugal held in Almada (1997) and Tavira (1999) the Loulé Cup Trampoline competition had its first edition in 2005, organised by the APAG, and with the support of the Mayor of the city and the Portuguese Trampoline Federation.
It was in 2008 that the 1st FIG World Cup
was organised parallel to the 3rd Loulé Cup. The competition was a big success in terms of nation representation (20) and results and it was followed by the second edition in 2010
. Since 2006
, the Gymnastics Federation of Portugal has increased its commitment to FIG World Cup/Series label events, with Portugal now standing among the national federations having organised at least one FIG World Cup/Series event in each discipline.
