Also Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix starts into Olympic Season

The Russian capital Moscow hosted the first "Grand Prix Tournament of Rhythmic Gymnastics" in the Olympic year 2016.
From February 19 to 21 a lot of international top athletes representing 45 different nations comes together, also to the parallel "Alina Kabaeva Champions Cup", because only one gymnast per nation is qualified for the Grand Prix event, to fight against the favorites from top nation Russia.
To the very first time also a group competition is integrated into the Grand Prix, as a very good test two month before the Olympic test events in April in Rio de Janeiro. Also at the program of the upcoming gymnastics weekend in Russia are international junior competitions. The most top athletes will use these possibilities six month befor the Olympic Games in Brazil.
As expected, won the Russian favorites Margerita Mamun and Alexandra Soldatova (each two gold) and Arina Averina (ribbon) in all disciplines of the Grand Prix competitions. Most successful non-Russian was Son Yeon Jae (KOR) with one silver and two bronze. Each a bronze medal won Melitina Staniouta (BLR) and Georgian Salome Pazhava.
