After the fourth and last FIG World Cup Event in Baku, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) started its first of five so-called "Challenge Cups" of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
This year's first event took place in the Spanish city of Guadalajara, followed by the second event just now in Portimao (POR), Mai 11 - 13 and the third in Berlin at the end of May .........

In the year of the 36th World Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics, the F.I.G. organizes total of 4 A-World Cups and in the second half of the year another 5 so-called Challenge Cup Events.

The highlight of the 2018 gymnastics year will be the World Championships from 7 to 16 September in the Bulgarian capital Sofia

In the framework of the first 2018  Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix competition in Moscow carried out European qualification competition for the III. Youth Olympic Games (Nov. 2018 in Buenos Aires), there was the expected dominance of the Russian favorites. U E G --: Originally planned to be held in Valladolid, site of the 2016 Trampoline Europeans, the organisers faced difficulties regarding the tent that was intended to house the training carpets. Thus, the Spanish Federation asked for an exceptional change in host city. They offered to host the event in Guadalajara where they have sufficient space and the experience of organising World Cup events.
