♦♦ ALL-AROUND FINAL - :
In a supreme display of confidence and skill, Darja Varfolomeev (GER) showed that her strategy of peaking when it matters paid off. Her total score of 121.900 included three scores over 30 and was 2.6 points ahead of second place. Although she started modestly by her standards, with a 29.850 for Ball, she took the lead after her second apparatus, and never looked back.
* The silver medal was claimed by Stiliana Nikolova (BUL) with a total of 119.300. She was superb on her first three events, but had a mistake on her last event, Hoop, dropping the apparatus right at the end of the routine. It was not a big enough error to have cost her the gold, but she was both disappointed and philosophical about it afterwards.
+ The bronze medal was captured by 2022 All-Around world champion Sofia Raffaeli (ITA) with a total score of 117.950. She had a great start with her favourite event, Hoop, achieving a score of 30.550. Although she could not break the 30 mark again, her remaining three scores were 29.000 or higher, showing both consistency and style.

♦ Qualification --: Germany's Olympic champion from Paris 2024, Darja Varfolomeev has a record in her sights - to successfully defend her clean sweep from the 2023 World Championships in Valencia (ESP). The only other gymnast to reach all five finals was Stiliana Nikolova (BUL), who qualified to the Ball final in second place and every other final in third. She broke the 30 point mark on day two for her mesmerising Clubs routine.
Taisiia Onofriichuk (UKR) qualified to all finals in second place except Ball, where a drop of the apparatus on the first day left her just outside the final in ninth place. She rallied on day two with her iconic Clubs and Ribbon routines, which softened her disappointment.
However, these three did not have it all their own way, as the Italians Tara Dragas and Sofia Raffaeli had some impressive results to add to the mix. Dragas qualified to the Ball final in third place, as did Raffaeli to the Clubs final. Both qualified to the All-Around final, and Raffaeli also added finals with Hoop and Ball to her tally, while Dragas will also appear in the Ribbon final.
A notable standout in her first senior world championships is 2025 Pan-American champion Rin Keys (USA). She had an impressive two days of competition, qualifying to the All-Around final in sixth position and reaching three apparatus finals - all except Clubs.

♦ Groups all-around
* FIG-report -: Group All-Around and Team titles as well as qualification to the apparatus finals were determined on the penultimate day of the 41st Rhythmic World Championships in Rio de Janeiro (BRA) on Saturday.
36 groups, performing across two sessions, went through their paces in the Arena Carioca 1. Competing in the first session, host nation Brazil had high expectations and high levels of encouragement from their flag-waving supporters. They completed both routines in spectacular fashion, placing first All-Around at the halfway stage, relegating Paris 2024 Olympic champions the People’s Republic of China to second place. They then had to sit and wait for the results from session two to come in. Japan started strongly with 27.200 for their colourful oriental-style 5 Ribbons routine, just 0.200 behind Brazil’s score on the same event.
However, what followed with Japan’s second routine was not in the script. Their stunning 3 Balls + 2 Hoops routine earned them 28.350, the highest score of the day and enough to clinch the All-Around title, ahead of Brazil by 0.300 points.
It was JAPAN’s best Group All-Around result since taking silver at the 2019 worlds in Baku (AZE). The group, spearheaded by 25-year-old Tokyo 2020 Olympic finalist Suzuki Ayuka, also featured Inaki Rinako, competing in her fourth world championships, along with teenagers Hanamura Natsumi, Miyoshi Hatsune, Nishimoto Megumi and Taguchi Hisano.

* TEAMS RANKING
Although their group placed eighth All-Around, GERMANY just missed out on qualifying for either apparatus final. That disappointment was tempered somewhat with the news that they had won a gold medal - for the team title. This title is awarded to the nation with the highest combined total of individual and group results, and with the help of newly crowned All-Around world champion Darja Varfolomeev and sixth-placed Anastasia Simakova, the German group found themselves on the top of the medal podium.
Second place in the team results went to BULGARIA, and third to UKRAINE, with hosts Brazil just missing out on a medal in fourth place.

The Chinese women won a second medal with bronze in the combination routine. The victory here went to the girls from Ukraine, ahead of Brazil in second place.
