Russia in front of Bulgaria and Italy is the ranking for the medals in both group finals which have been the last competitions at the 26th World Championships in Budapest
The Russians presented themselves sovereignly with 5 ribbons (25.200) and 2 balls/ 3 hoops (25.275) but the decision with balls/ hoops, where 2nd placed Bulgaria scored 25.200, has been very tight. Favourites of the audience were once again the Italians with their spectacular choreographies.

Russia (50.325) is again Group World Champion in front of Bulgaria (50.175), Belarus and Italy (both with the score of 46.450). On the ranks 4 to 8, which means the Olympic qualification, are following Ukraine, Spain, China and Greece.

The German group missed the qualification for Athens and ended up on rank 13, in front of them are the groups from Brazil, Poland, Hungary and Canada.

Russia is the Team World Champion again!
Despite of mistakes during the 2nd competition day the team with the gymnasts Alina Kabaeva, Irina Tchachina, Olga Kapranova and Vera Sessina won with the score of 255.600 in front of Ukraine (246.350) and Belarus (240.875). The ranks 4 and 5 which are important for the Olympic qualification have been reached by Greece and Bulgaria.

Anna Bessonova (UKR) is the first winner at the 26th World Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics (groups and individual gymnasts) in Budapest. She clearly won the final with the hoop in front of the 2 Russians Alina Kabaeva and Irina Tchachina. The final with ball has been won by Alina Kabaeva in front of Bessonova and Inna Shukova (BLR).
Today, the FIG informed about doping case of Bulgarian World Champion Simona Peycheva in August 2003.
