Simone BILES, the seventh Worlds all-aroundtitle for USA! |
The world’s best female gymnast is Simone Biles, a 16-year-old Texan with braces who beat a field of Olympians to win the world all-around title in her first major international meet. Biles, the 2013 U.S. all-around champion, scored 60.216 points, coming from behind after three of four rotations to overtake teammate Kyla Ross, who had 59.332 points. Russian Aliya Mustafina, the 2010 world all-around champion, won bronze with 58.856. Ross, the youngest member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic champion team, led by a tiny .016 of a point going into the final rotation, floor exercise. Biles had a huge advantage over Ross going into that event, outscoring her by .7 in qualifying and .45 and .8 at the U.S. Championships in August. It would have been a shock if Biles didn’t pass Ross on the final event. She delivered a 15.233 after Ross posted a 14.333 to become the seventh U.S. woman to win a world all-around title in gymnastics history.

* ... a short historical Review
For women, it was the turn of the millennium the Russian Svetlana Khorkina , who was then succeeded as the first and only three times to conquer with success the turn crown the all-around world champion , until just now , " King Kohei " the autocracy took yesterday in this category with his fourth success. ..
After 1997 (Lausanne ), 2001 ( Ghent ) and 2003 ( Anaheim ) , where Carly Patterson already knocked Vice , then broke up with Chellsie MEMMEL (2005 ) , Shawn Johnson (2007 ) , Bridget SLOAN (2009) and last Jordyn Wieber (2011 ) an era of American dominance of strong personalities , their winning streak in 2006 only in Aarhus (Vanessa Ferrari , Italy) and in 2010 was interrupted by the Russian Aliya Mustafina in Rotterdam.
And currently , the two U.S. multi fighters Simone Biles and Kyla Ross stood out in the preliminaries in 2013 in Antwerp so much from that one can hardly believe that their strongest chasers Larisa IORDACHE ( ROU) , Aliya Mustafina (RUS ) or one of the two Chinese YOA , Jinnan or CHANG , Chunsong they could seriously jeopardize .
But again , that every turn until the very last race is safe landing at an end. As for men , so tension is so hip again !

* F.I.G. comment:
Fifteen countries were represented in this final, with the USA, China, Italy, Canada, Russia, Great Britain, Japan, Switzerland and host Belgium all having qualified the maximum of two gymnasts. The field included 15 European gymnasts, five from Pan America and four from Asia.
Top qualifier Simone Biles, the 2013 US national champion repeated her strong qualifying performance, registering the top scores on Vault (15.850) and Floor (15.233). She took an early lead in the final but fell back after the third rotation to Kyla Ross, only to regain it with her powerful Floor routine that won her the title at her first World Championships. The newly crowned All-around World Champion will compete in all Apparatus Finals on the weekend. "It hasn't sunken in yet [that I am the World Champion]," said Biles. "I am sure it will eventually, but we still have finals so we can't get too excited about it yet. But I know what I have done is a huge accomplishment and I am very happy.”
