Gabby Douglas and Ryohei Kato win American Cup 2016

2012 Olympic all-around champion and 2015 World all-around silver-medalist Gabrielle DOUGLAS (USA; Virginia Beach, Va./Buckeye Gymnastics) and Japan’s Ryohei KATO (2013 World Vice Champion in all-around in Antwerp and 2015 Team Gold medallist in Glasgow) won the women’s and men’s titles at the 2016 AT&T American Cup, the USA’s most prestigious international invitational and part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup series, at Prudential Center in Newark, N. J. The USA’s Maggie Nichols (USA; Little Canada, Minn./Twin City Twisters), and Donnell Whittenburg (USA; Baltimore, Md./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), both took home the silver medal. Bronze on men's side went to the Chinese WEI Sun and to the Canadian Elisabeth Black.
 

So all the medals of these first F.I.G. A-World Cup in the Olympic years went to the favorite nations from overses. Behind the second USA gymnast Sam Mikulak on fourth plca two Brits were the best European athletes in this important all-around competition: Nile Wilson on 5th place and Amy Tinkler on 4th place.
The next World Cups in the circuit of all-around events in this year will follow next in March: next week in Glasgow and Stuttgart only one week later!
