The international Olympic season opened in Baku

Three double winners

The international World Calendar of artistic gymnastics in the Olympic year will be opened with the 1^st FIG Challenge Cup 2016 in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, from February 19 - 21. The decision to host the FIG World Challenge Cup in Azerbaijan was made due to the successful performances of Azerbaijani gymnasts at the Baku 2015 1^st European Games, said Vice-President of the European Union of Gymnastics, Secretary General of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Farid Gayibov, in his interview to the “Vestnik Kavkaza” website, dedicated to the FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics - the first one in this sports discipline to start in Baku on February 19

Three double winner dominated the apparatus final events on Sunday in Baku:
On men's side the "King of Twist", Kenzo Shirai from Japan, winning on floor exercise and vault and his teammate Tomomasa Hazegawa as the best gymnast on parallel bars and high bar.
Double winner on women's side was Flavia Lopes from Brazil, who was top on balance beam and floor exercise:

The Doyenne of worldwide artistic gymnastics, the 40 years old exception of internationale Sports Oksana Chusovitina from Uzbekistan, won at her special apparatus, the vaulting table:
