The 18th edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) takes place from 20 to 26 July in the North Macedonian capital Skopje. Since 1991, the European Olympic Committee (EOC) has been organising both the summer and winter editions for Europe's best young athletes in the same calendar year. Skopje is the main venue for ten of the 15 sports. Another venue is Kumanovo, 40 km away. Only the artistic gymnasts will be travelling much further: due to the requirements of the sports venue, they will have to travel 600 km to Osijek (Croatia) for their competitions, where the FIG World Challenge Cup was traditionally held in April. A total of approximately 4,000 athletes from 49 European nations are expected to participate. (► EYOF-Website).
♦ ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS - :
A maximum of one junior male gymnast (aged 16-17 in the competition year) and three junior female gymnasts (aged 14-15 in the competition year) per European nation can participate in this event.
Athletes from 40 countries have registered (37 for the girls and 34 for the boys). A record number of 34 countries will compete in the girls' competition!Participants from 40 countries registered (37 for the girls and 34 for the boys). ♦ EYOF 2025 - B A L A N C E S
* In the boys' competition, Great Britain was the most successful with five victories (team, all-around, three apparatus).
Italy followed with two victories (mixed team, high bar), while Germany (Nikita Prohorov – pommel horse, who shared the victory with Switzerland's Ben Schumacher) and Ireland (vault) each won one gold medal.
Austria's young athletes surprised everyone with silver in the vault (Wachter) and bronze in the high bar (Balasz).
* In the girls' competition, Great Britain (5x gold) also proved to be the dominant nation, ahead of Italy, which secured the remaining 2 EYOF gold medals (mixed team and vault).
In the team competition, the German girls kept up with France, the surprisingly strong Slovakia and Italy in the medal rankings, finishing in 4th place.
Madita Mayr added a bronze medal in the vault final to the overall rather meagre tally.
