3rd All-around Worldcup 2019: Birmingham

The 2019 Gymnastics World Cup returns to Birmingham on 23 March, and will showcase some of the best gymnasts in the world competing for prestigious titles at this major global event. Part of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) World Cup Series, the all-around competitions feature nine women and nine men representing eight different countries to take home the prestigious titles. As the host nation, two British gymnasts will compete, with all nations announcing their representatives in the Spring.The 2019 Gymnastics World Cup takes place on Saturday 23rd March at Resorts World Arena, Birmingham, and there are many ways that you can follow the action.
The All-around worlds bronze medallist, Russia's Nikita NAGORNYY won the all-around world cup today in Birmingham with a score of 85,065 points in front of the Chinese SUN, Wei (84,730) and Kazuma KAYA (83,731) from Japan ...

♦♦ Men's AA competition: The second Russian success!
Russian star and All-around bronze medallist of the 2018 Worlds in Doha, Nikita NAGORNYY took gold (85.065) today in the Genting Arena of Birmingham (GBR) with his powerful vaulting (14.900) and huge tumbling on floor (14.366) wowing the crowd. The All-around No. 4 of Doha, the Chinese SUN, Wei took silver with 84.730 and Japan’s Kazuma KAYA scored 83.731 to win bronze. Great Britain’s Joe Fraser has narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place at the Gymnastics World Cup in his home city of Birmingham.

♦♦ Women's AA competition:
Alia MUSTAFINA (RUS), the multiple Olympic champion from Russia wowed the Birmingham crowd at the Gymnastics World Cup, winning gold with an all-around score of 53.564. Aliya looked in complete control, with her only error coming on beam where she had to count a fall. Apart from that, her vault, uneven bars and then a clean floor routine guaranteed her the title.
Riley McCusker from America took the silver with a score of 53.065 and Thais Fidelis from Brazil did brilliantly to score 51.832 for bronze. Great Britain’s Ellie Downie had a difficult evening, but fought through for a seventh placed finish and an all-around score of 49.333.
