The People’s Republic of China claimed the 2026 American Cup title Saturday evening (7 March) in Henderson, Nevada, just outside Las Vegas. Its return in 2026 comes with a new mixed team format that will make its Olympic debut at LA28 in just over two years’ time. China will be hoping for a repeat performance there – and the first-ever Olympic title in the mixed team competition - after taking the win Saturday, March 7. They scored a 57.250 in the third and final round, holding off the host Americans, who totalled a 54.700. Japan rounded out the podium with a 54.100 score.
The highlight of China's night came from Li Hongyan, who capped off his team's charge with a stunning routine on the horizontal bar. He moved smoothly through two daring, double-flipping catch-and-release moves before sticking his double-twisting, double layout dismount. Li scored 14.800.
World balance beam champion Zhang Qingying missed her acrobatic series on her signature event, but still scored more than enough – a 13.550 – to help lift her team to victory.
Team USA was led by Olympic team gold medallist Hezly Rivera. The 17-year-old delivered a 13.600 in the final round on the floor exercise, tumbling a full-twisting double layout and a double layout to open. >> R e s u l t s
