Netherlands wins 46th Leverkusen Cup 2023

Top Turnen Zuid Den Bosch (NED)

One week after the Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, the Ostermann Arena in Leverkusen was once again the venue for a spectacular women's artistic gymnastics tournament with the 46. Internationalen Leverkusen-Cup . It ended with the victory of the Dutch women ahead of Wales and host Germany.
A trio of the Dutch team "Topturnen Zuid Den Bosch", strong in multiple events and experienced in competitions, won with 97.750 points after an exciting competition. Second place went to the Welsh team, represented by the twins Abigail and Emily Roper, who, after missing a third starter due to injury, took second place with an equally impressive 96.700 points.
Cup bronze went to the team of the young German selection team (Amalia Preuss-Neudorf, Aliya-Jolie Funk and Charleen Pach), who showed an impressive performance with 93.400 points. Although it was not quite enough for victory, their performance thrilled the home audience.

Emily ROPER (WAL)

Welsh gymnast Emily Roper excelled as the best individual gymnast of the day with a stable 49.00 points and even performed a Yurchenko with 1.5 screws on vault.
Second place in the individual ranking went to Marit Reijnders (48.900 points) from the Netherlands and third place went to her team mate Shadé van Oorschot (48.300) from the Netherlands, ahead of Abigail Roper (WAL).
Best German gymnast was Aliya-Jolie FUNK with 46.150 points on 5th place.

This 46th International Leverkusen Cup 2023 was once again an outstanding tournament of top artistic gymnastics in Olympic apparatus gymnastics. Over the years, this most traditional European competition has become a permanent fixture in the international gymnastics calendar, attracting gymnasts from all over the world. This year, athletes from seven nations were in action in front of 1,300 spectators to capture the coveted challenge cup.
