>> REPORT (by Kavics Eniko): On the second day Dana Sofronie started very well on vault (with a round-off full twist on-back pike off and a 'simple' Yurchenko full twist) and finished first ahead of Anoshina.
On bars, Dana showed very good work, displaying good form and quality of work and Petrovschi comes to mind while watching her. Look at her scores on both days!
The Hungarian Renata Kiss performed a solid routine and finished second. Alexandra Eremia fell off her handstand on the low bar but still finished third as everyone else fell, including Anoshina who hurt herself badly by falling on her knees on both her flight elements and withdrew from the floor final.
On beam, Dana started with a solid routine, she mounted with a round-off layout-backhandspring-layout to one foot but her leg form wasn't so clean. Eremia was even better and had a really beautiful bodyline and leg form and showed what the Romanians are renowned for, performing a beam routine without hesitation or loss of balance. She finished her routine with a beautiful triple twist and made it look so easy. Alexandra took first place and Sofronie was second, although at first it seemed that Polina Miller would finish second as initially her score was a 9.600. Her routine was very good and included a standing Arabian.
Sofronie started the floor final but she was probably tired and had a bad fall after her opening series, a full in-back out and also put her hands down on her last tumbling series, a double pike. Afterwards she sat on the side-lines with ice on her leg, so fingers crossed she didn't sustain a serious injury. Alexandra didn't make any mistakes and won the floor final. Her dance was very nice and she presented the routine to the crowd really well.
The conclusion after the competition is that Alexandra has great potential as she has good form and is also elegant, which you need along with the acrobatic skills. Sofronie is very strong on bars. The Romanian girls divided the gold medals between them and had a very successful competition. They seemed so shy and are so tiny and thin!
Also a word for the young and talented Czech girl Jana Silkulova, who finished 6th in the all-around. She is a very talented gymnast and has strong skills and nice form, although she did make mistakes.
